The magazine, which is published by The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises (RAFCTE), offers a behind-the-scenes insight into operations, deployments and the new technology that is taking the Service into the future.
A wide range of stunning photography from around the world offers readers an insight into the work and progress of RAF operations including the pre-deployment preparations and the arrival in Afghanistan of the Tornado GR4 in June 2009 and the RAF Merlin HC3 later that year.
In addition, the yearbook includes a free DVD ‘Voices of the Battle of Britain’ featuring first-hand accounts from veterans 70 years on and archive film footage. The bumper 120-page magazine also has the latest on the RAF Red Arrows, including interviews with the team’s two newest recruits Flt Lt Kirsty Moore and Flt Lt Ben Plank, plus Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton, presents his vision for the Royal Air Force in the 21st century.
The RAF Yearbook 2010 is the 43rd edition and will be the last to be edited by respected aviation author and photographer Peter March. Mr March has been editing the yearbook since 1988. He said: “It has been a great privilege to have been managing editor for 23 years during which time there have been many notable and exciting events that we have been able to feature in our own unique way in the yearbook.”
The Official RAF Yearbook 2010 is on sale at WH Smiths, Tesco and all good newsagents, priced £4.99. It can also be purchased online at www.airtattooshop.com
RAFCTE is owned by its parent charity, the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, which seeks to promote recruitment to the Royal Air Force and raise money and support for the wider RAF family of charities.
