What's Next . . . from AcroCamp
Just a quick note to let everyone know what's going on.
Yeah, we've been (and gone) a little radio-dark of late. A lot of that has been catching up on sleep and attending to various other responsibilities that have gone wanting due to the our devotion of energies to the film project. And one or more of us had coverage opportunities in associated with the other media hats that we wear that essentially came immediately on the heels of the film shoot.
So here's what's going on. All of the aerial footage is not off the cards and onto a hard drive and backed up. We're still extracting footage from the big cameras on the ground and I expect to have that done in a few days. We're also cataloging the still photography and paying attention to the other media that various people shot and are providing to us.
The next task is to sit down and watch and log all of the footage. I'm guessing that we have something in excess ...

Video: 'A-10 Warthog Week' Begins With A Smokin' Airshow Demo by Martt
Catch the Air Combat Command A-10 East Demo Team at the Indy Air Show June 12th & 13th
AirPigz 'A-10 Warthog Week' Begins!  This excellent video was shot just last month at the Bluebonnet Airshow northwest of Austin, Texas.  It features a fab aerial demonstration of the Fairchild A-10 Warthog (officially the Thunderbolt ll) put on by the Air Combat Command's West Demo Team.  This is all especially relevant since the East Demo Team will be putting on a similar demo at the Indianapolis Air Show in just a few weeks on June 12th and 13th.  I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the A-10 put on a show like this : ) ...
MCAS Cherry Point Airshow Summary by jparagallo
This past Saturday I had the opportunity to attend the 2010 MCAS Chery Point Airshow. This was my first chance to see a show on a Marine Corps. Air Station or Jet base. I mean we entered the base following the MP's direction and parked on one of the parallel runways to the rear of the buildings. Just walking from my car across the runway to the taxiway was really something.
The number of static displays was nice and I had the chance to get to most of them and snap some decent shots. Some of the performers included: Bill Leff in his AT-6, The Red Eagles, Panchito B-25, Micheal Goulian, The Aeroshell Aerobatic Team, Tim Weber, The Shockwave, AV-8B Harrier Demo, The F-15 Strike Eagle Demo, and The U.S. Navy Blue Angels with Fat Albert. ...

Maj. Raoul G. Lufbery from Air Force Link Top Stories
On May 19, 1918, Maj. Raoul G. Lufbery, who earned 17 aerial victories with the French in World War I, lost his life in combat near Nancy, France.  His Nieuport burst into flames, and he and a cushion plunged earthward after his aircraft flipped over. He was killed instantly. In his aviation career, he was the third highest scoring American ace for World War I, and the first American to reach ace status. He was member of the famed Lafayette Escadrille before transferring to the U.S. Air Service following the nation's entry into the war.

A Family Affair - Air and Space Magazine
Why fly solo when you can bring along a passenger? That's probably what Bernard Pietenpol was thinking when he designed and built the Air Camper, a two-seat monoplane.
Pietenpol lived a simple life in rural Minnesota. When he wasn't working in his television repair shop in Cherry Grove, he almost always had an airplane under construction: wood airframe, fabric covering, and an engine lifted from an automobile. And when the airplane was finished, it was put to use flying low and ...

In the Museum: Sailors' Delight - Air and Space Magazine
In September 1911, Orville Wright delivered a crated Wright model B-1 to an armory in Annapolis, Maryland. Lieutenant John Rodgers, only the second aviator to have flown for the U.S. Navy, assembled the biplane in the course of an afternoon with the help of a few midshipmen. The next morning, Rodgers rose from Farragut Field in the tiny craft. The armory is now the U.S. Naval Academy's Dahlgren Hall, and the historic space is home to a student union, restaurant, ice hockey rink, and, until last summer, a 1941 N3N-3 floatplane. ...
