Sink Your Teeth Into The Many Faces Of The USAF A-10 Warthog! from blog by Martt
Catch the Air Combat Command A-10 East Demo Team at the Indy Air Show June 12th &13th
Nose art has made a bit of a comeback in the last 20 years, and the A-10 Warthog is perfectly suited to putting a mouth on the front end to accentuate that massive 30mm GAU-8 cannon.  The simple shark teeth design like shown above is one of the most common seen on A-10's.  I think these kind of teeth looked great on the P-40 and other aircraft from WWII, but it's hard to argue with the way it's taken to the extreme here on the Warthog with the ability to spit serious firepower out of that mouth! ...

In his essay titled, “The Meaning of Lindbergh’s Flight,” published in 1960, historian John William Ward theorized that Lindbergh enabled Americans to look both forward to the technological future, which they feared and misunderstood, and backward to their ...

Atlantis lands for final time after 25-year career from TAKEOFF TUBE
How would you look after 120 million miles? Atlantis might appear a little scuffed up to outsiders as it heads into retirement after a quarter-century of spaceflight. But to the trained eyes of NASA engineers, the ship is still in its prime — a fact that adds to wistful emotions at the space agency as the shuttle program winds down. Atlantis returned home from its 32nd and final voyage Wednesday, the first of three shuttles that are closing out their flying careers and eventually heading to museums. “The legacy of Atlantis, now in the history books,” Mission Control announced at touchdown. About 1,200 guests lined the Kennedy Space Center runway to watch the shuttle glide through a clear morning sky to a flawless landing at the end of a 12-day journey. NASA employees wore white ribbons with the name “Atlantis” and the shuttle’s picture embossed in gold. Even the lead flight directors came in from Houston for the occasion. ...
