That was the feeling Raymond Davis had when he flew in a B-25 bomber for the first time since World War II. The flight happened last month at Meacham Field in Fort Worth. Davis, a veteran of both the Pacific Theater in World War II and the Berlin Airlift, was informed last December that his daughter, Julie McMurrey -- a teacher at Eubanks Intermediate School -- and her friend, Lee Palmer, had arranged for him to fly aboard the Pacific Prowler, one of fewer than 50 B-25 bombers still flying throughout the world. Aviation Trivia of the Day by JP Santiago | Despite an overall decline in accidents by airline operators in the last several decades, the general aviation accident rate has not changed as significantly. While it's obvious that those are two different worlds of flying that contribute to that difference, efforts to improve general aviation safety in the last several years haven't had the desired impact. The insurance company Avemco only insures piston aircraft and has embarked on a significant study to determine what can be done to improve general aviation safety. While admittedly that's financially self-serving for them, the preliminary results have lessons to be learned for the GA community...
