Evan flies - Che Barnes from evanflys.com
I first met Lt. Cdr. Che Barnes in 2007 when my dad and I went to see the IAC (International Aerobatic Club) practice flying at the Tracy airport. One of the pilots was this really nice guy who said he flew for the Coast Guard. He spent a bunch of time telling me all about his plane and stuff. Then in 2008 at the Pacific Coast Dream machines car and airshow in Half Moon Bay, the Coast Guard flew in a C-130 – and Che was the pilot! Because he is a very busy guy and had to go out on many deployments, it took a while before we could hook up for an interview. I really lucked out with this interview because I got a great tour of Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento too!...

1000 New Comments on LASP & The Doobie Brothers from Max Trescott on General Aviation by Max Trescott
Thanks to everyone who submitted a comment on the TSA’s LASP program. More than 1,000 comments were submitted in the last 5 days, bringing the total to about 4,000, which may be a record for an aviation related NPRM. Having read dozens of the comments, I can tell you that they were respectful, well thought out, and relevant to the day-to-day work of the commenters. They all opposed the NPRM—I didn’t see a single comment favoring it. Many aviation bloggers and Web sites helped spur pilots to action.

LEGENDARY DOOBIE BROTHERS TO PERFORM EAA AIRVENTURE OSHKOSH 2009's
OPENING DAY CONCERT

Ford Motor Company presenting July 27 concert on AeroShell Square

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. - (Feb. 26, 2009) - After a
full opening day of flying on Monday, July 27, at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh
2009, AeroShell Square will feel the power of more than aircraft, as the
legendary Doobie Brothers take the stage that evening, compliments of
the Ford Motor Company.

The performance, free of charge to all AirVenture guests that
day, will be held adjacent to the Ford Motor Company Hangar on AeroShell
Square, immediately following the afternoon air show.

"Over the last couple of years, a question that I regularly
receive from EAA members and AirVenture attendees is 'Who will be the
opening-day concert at Oshkosh?'" said Tom Poberezny, EAA president and
AirVenture chairman. "Ford has again made it possible for this popular
tradition to continue by supporting the appearance of the Doobie
Brothers at AirVenture 2009."

Like EAA AirVenture, the Doobie Brothers are known the world
over and have attracted multiple generations of fans. Led by
co-founding members Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons, the Doobies have
accumulated Grammy awards, gold and platinum records. They are
currently working on a new album of original material scheduled for
release this year.

"Over the past decade, Ford has been proud to be a part EAA
AirVenture, The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration," said Kevin
Keling, Ford Corporate Events Manager. "We're very happy to help
support EAA, all EAA members and this great event in a variety of ways,
including bringing top entertainment such as the Doobie Brothers to
aviation's annual family reunion."

The Doobie Brothers' unique style defies a single definition,
but has left its unquestioned mark on music history. From their first
top 40 hit in 1972, "Listen To The Music," through No. 1 hits such as
"Black Water" and "What A Fool Believes", and classic songs such as
"China Grove" and "Minute By Minute," the Doobie Brothers have created
an instantly identifiable American sound that continues to thrill
longtime fans and welcome a new generation to their music.

More information is available at the band's website at
www.doobiebros.com.

The opening-day concert at EAA AirVenture, along with Ford Motor
Company's support of the Fly-In Theater and the vehicles used during the
event, its notable consumer presence at the fly-in and discounts on Ford
Motor Company vehicles for EAA members, continues to highlight Ford's
support for EAA members. Ford will also offer additional highlights and
benefits for EAA members and AirVenture attendees during this year's
fly-in.

EAA AIRVENTURE OSHKOSH is The World's Greatest Aviation
Celebration and EAA's yearly membership convention. Additional EAA
AirVenture information, including advance ticket purchase, is available
through the World Wide Web at www.airventure.org. EAA members receive

TICKETS TO 2009 INDIANAPOLIS AIR SHOW
NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE; BUY EARLY AND SAVE MONEY
June 5, 6 and 7 (** note the earlier-than-usual dates **) charity event
also adds Golden Knights, MV-22 Osprey and American Icon Tour to line-up

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – With just a couple clicks of the mouse, your admission to the summer’s best family-friendly charity event will be guaranteed!

Tickets to the 2009 Indianapolis Air Show at Mt. Comfort Airport (MQJ), featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, are now available at the event’s website,
www.IndyAirShow.com. Scheduled for June 5, 6 and 7, the IAS will be taking place much earlier in the summer than previous years.

If you buy your tickets online before the event, you’ll get even more than the peace of mind that comes with getting something done early – you’ll get a significant discount!

General admission tickets online are $17 each for adults and $8 for children ages 6 to 12 (there is no charge for children under age 6). That’s a savings of $3 and $2, respectively – and a great reason to visit
www.IndyAirShow.com as soon as possible.

It’s important to note that the IAS, which benefits local children’s charities, did not raise its ticket prices this year, hoping to keep it as affordable as possible for families all over the country. In addition, active duty members of the U.S. military can get into the event for free by showing their military ID.

“The Indianapolis Air Show is a great option for anyone who’s looking for something fun and economical to do this summer,” said Tom McCord, IAS general manager. “Within driving distance of much of the U.S., you can’t beat the entertainment you’ll see soaring overhead and the interactive events taking place on the field.”

To access the advance ticketing area, go to
www.IndyAirShow.com and click on the “Buy Tickets” link at the top right of the homepage. Full instructions are available there. Advance Air Show tickets are scanned and redeemed at admission gates.

Joining the Navy’s highly-regarded flight demonstration team, the Blue Angels, in the IAS line-up are the U.S. Army Golden Knights, the U.S. Marines MV-22 Osprey and additional military aircraft.

Also just confirmed is the American Icon Tour – the first-ever visit by this group of P-51 Mustangs to Central Indiana. More details on this exciting new addition to the Air Show, including how to purchase rides, will be released soon.

Matt Chapman, sponsored by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Lucas Oil’s Mike Wiskus will be bringing their high-flying skills to the event, as well.

Be sure to check out the IAS website,
www.IndyAirShow.com, for the latest information on what you can expect at this year’s Air Show.

Net proceeds from the Indianapolis Air Show go to the Central Indiana Community Foundation. The IAS has donated more than $1.3 million through CICF to children’s charities since the show’s inception in 1997.
