Indianapolis Businessman Selected as Indiana Aviator of the Year

Indianapolis, Indiana – Indianapolis businessman, Leon Riggs, owner of United Package Liquors, has been selected as the 2010 Indiana Aviator of the Year by the Indianapolis Air Show. Chairman, Bob Duncan commented “It was a unanimous decision this year to honor Le Riggs with this award. In addition to being a successful businessman and philanthropist, Le actively flew throughout the Midwest performing in various air shows. He enjoyed aerobatics and everything about being in an airplane. Le is a long-time friend of the Air Show and we are excited to introduce him to the spectators during the opening ceremonies of the Air Show.” Le opened up his first liquor store in Indianapolis in 1964 and he now employs 200 people at 28 liquor stores in Indiana and Kentucky . Le also owns LOR Corporation which owns and operates 39 retail strip centers.

Le has two children, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. “My dad has taught our entire family the value of dedication and has instilled in all of us that we are never to tall to reach down and lend a helping hand,” says Le’s daughter, Cindy Lynn (Riggs) Hill.

The 14th Annual Indianapolis Air Show is only weeks away and will take place June 11th – 13th. In the air you will see wing walkers, aerobatics, smoke, military planes and a flying circus.  On the ground you will be able to visit the Zhu Zhu Universe, witness a Hot Air Balloon Glow and Antique Car Show and learn about the history of aviation up close and personal. As a thank you, active duty members of the U.S. military may attend for free by showing their military ID.

Performers include the world's only P-51 Horsemen Aerobatic Team and the Military class will be represented by the USAF A-10 (Thunderbolt II) East Demo Team and the US Navy F/A-18 E/F Super Hornets. Red Bull Air Race champion, Michael Goulian and his Extra300SHP is just one of the exciting civilian performances scheduled this year.
