Barnstorming: Giving Thanks from Aero-News Network
'Thank You' Barely Covers How I Feel Right Now... It's been a shade over two months since my world got turned inverted in the most unpleasant way imaginable and despite what it all felt like in the first few minutes of awareness that Vicki was gone, I have learned to survive and even manage a smile or two in the interim. I'd have not thought it possible at that point, but one of the inescapable truisms of life is that it does indeed go on...

EAA In No Hurry To Pick President from AVwebFlash Current Issue
The current president of the Experimental Aircraft Association says the process to pick his successor is progressing and no time line has been set for the recruitment. Tom Poberezny told AVweb in a podcast interview that the board of directors decided to hire a headhunting firm to find his replacement after an internal effort collapsed during AirVenture Oshkosh in July. Poberezny said the failed attempt over the summer generated debate among board members, whom he characterized as "strong-minded," but he said the process is continuing. There are now two headhunting consultants in the running to find the new president. He said the board is more concerned with getting the right person for the job than with setting a deadline for the passing of the gavel.

EAA Continues Search for President from AVWeb Podcast - Podcast
It was hoped that a successor to Experimental Aircraft Association President Tom Poberezny would be announced at AirVenture 2009, but that attempt has failed. EAA is now planning to hire a headhunting firm to find him or her, and AVweb's Russ Niles spoke with the current president about the process.

Passing Gas with the ARabs of VA-115 from Tailhook Daily Briefing by JC
This weekend, I’ve had the distinct pleasure of being on a great email thread of ‘One-Up-manship’. I thought I’d share with our fellow Tailhookers. The boys of VA-115 Arabs, pronounced “A-Rabs” (class of ‘70-‘72) have been encouraged at the behest of Dave “Snako” Kelly to tell some of their best Tanker (KA-6D) episodes, or at least whatever they could remember…

World War II: Mustang Soars from About.com Military History
October 26, 1940 - The
North American P-51 Mustang (right) flies for the first time. Originally developed for the British, the P-51 became one of the iconic American fighters of World War II. Arriving in late 1943, the P-51B was key to maintaining the Combined Bomber Offensive against Germany. Prior to its arrival daylight bombing raids routinely sustained heavy losses as current Allied fighters lacked the range to escort bombers for the duration of their missions. The definitive version of the aircraft, the P-51D, featured a distinctive bubble canopy and reached the frontlines in 1944. Agile, with great performance, the Mustang downed 4,950 German aircraft - more than any other Allied fighter. Retained after the war, it saw service in Korea as a ground attack aircraft. Share your favorite World War II aircraft or your thoughts on the P-51.

EGRESS in Astrorocket from The Unwanted Blog by admin
Two early 1960’s concepts out of Martin Aircraft were the
EGRESS survival system (a modified B-58 Hustler ejection seat/capsule married to a re-entry heat shield and an attitude control system) and the Astrorocket, which was a series of concepts for spaceplanes for the Air Force, meant to launch on short notice and be truly “operational.” Putting the two together is kind of obvious, but as can be seen in the artwork below, the volumetric packing efficiency wasn’t that great.
