"Cooking for the Cure - Fantasy of Flight for the Fight" Cookbook to Raise Money to Fight Breast Cancer
Walkers from Fantasy of Flight Team Raise Funds for Breast Cancer 3-Day with 150-Recipe Cookbook
POLK CITY, Fla. (Oct. 8, 2009) - A team sponsored by Fantasy of Flight, Central Florida's premier aviation attraction, is hoping to end breast cancer one step at a time with the sale of their new "Cooking for the Cure - Fantasy of Flight for the Fight" cookbook (2009 Morris Press Cookbooks), a collection of 150 tantalizing recipes including main dishes, sides, desserts, as well as a glossary of cooking terms, charts and conversions.
The cookbook is for sale online at www.fantasyofflight.com/store/ or in person at the Fantasy of Flight gift shop for just $10. The entire $10 purchase price will go to the fight against breast cancer, with 85 per cent of the funds raised going to the Susan G. Komen and 15 per cent to the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. The Fantasy of Flight gift shop is open to guests at no charge seven days a week during regular attraction hours, 10 am - 5 pm. The cookbook will be available for sale until Nov. 1, 2009.
The Fantasy of Flight team, comprised of five walkers from the Lakeland area, will participate in "The Breast Cancer 3-Day benefitting Susan G.Komen for the Cure," a 60-mile fundraising and awareness walk to be held in Tampa, Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2009. This marks the second year the team has participated in the walk, and the new cookbook is just one of many fundraisers the team is using to collect money for the cause. Four members of the team have been personally touched by breast cancer, while many others have been affected by other forms of cancer. The Tampa walk is just one of 15 events nationwide.

"Cancer has personally affected several of our employees and members of the team, so I know that our walkers are taking this fundraising endeavor very seriously. The cookbook recipes were gathered from team members, family and friends, some of whom are breast cancer survivors. Some recipe favorites include the Maryland Crab Cakes (see recipe below), Tex Mex Throw Together, White Chicken Chili, Kicken' Chicken Stew and Mac and Cheese.

One of the favorite recipes from the new "Cooking for the Cure - Fantasy of Flight for the Fight" cookbook:
Maryland Crab Cakes 2 T. Mayonnaise 1 Egg 1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce 1 (16 oz.) can Lump or Back Fin Crab Meat 1 tsp. Dry Mustard 1 tsp. Old Bay Seasoning
Combine all ingredients except crab meat and blend well. Fold in crab meat being careful not to break down the crab meat lumps. Form into 6 cakes. Chill for at least 2 hours. When ready, fry crab cakes in frying pan in about 1 inch of oil. Fry for several minutes on each side. Remove from pan, drain and serve.

Oct. 1 - 31, Food Drive -- Visitors who donate non-perishable food items receive $8 off full-priced admission (adult or child) for each donation. The month-long food drive will benefit the Agape Food Bank in Lakeland and The Mission in Winter Haven.
Nov. 7 - 8, Homefront Hugs USA -- Fantasy of Flight is honoring the U.S. military and the upcoming Veteran's Day by partnering with Homefront Hugs USA to pack holiday gift packages to ship to U.S. Troops overseas. Guests purchasing tickets to the Third Annual Roar n' Soar, Nov. 7 -8 who also make a donation from a list of the soldiers' most desired items will receive $5 off one event ticket per donated item.
Nov. 9 - Dec. 13, Polk County Toys for Tots -- Each visitor who donates a new, unwrapped toy will receive $8 off full-priced admission (adult or child) for each donation. The toy drive benefits Polk County Toys for Tots.
