AIRSHOW TO RETURN TO MUSKEGON, MICHIGAN
Muskegon, MI – Thrilling aerobatic and military displays will take to the skies over Muskegon, Michigan in 2010. As a new component of Muskegon Summer Celebration, a popular regional music festival, the airshow will take place over Muskegon Lake on June 26th and 27th, 2010. "We expect that the airshow will breath new life into Summer Celebration as the event enters its 18th year", says Muskegon Summer Celebration Executive Director, Joe Austin. The airshow will highlight the first weekend of the 11-day event, which concludes on July 4th. EAA is offering historic flight experiences in its beautifully restored B-17G Flying Fortress "Aluminum Overcast." One of only 14 Fortress's still flying, this aircraft is an icon of the Allied strategic bombing effort that helped turn the tide of battle in World War II. Unlike reading a history book, you can actually fly a mission back in time and feel the might of this magnificent machine, just as those brave young men did more than 60 years ago.

Aviation students look for blue skies - Weather postpones flying competition from Diamond Pilots
Annie Martin • The Enquirer •
For an area known for unpredictable weather, planning a flight competition in October can be a headache.
Just ask the students who waited in a hangar at Western Michigan University's College of Aviation Thursday, waiting for the wind to die down to 10 knots (between 11 and 12 miles per hour) or less.
It's been a rough week for weather at the National Intercollegiate Flying Association regional competition, which comprises eight air and ground events. Because of testy conditions in Battle Creek, organizers cut short a navigation event Wednesday afternoon.
