Dayton, Ohio – Vectren Dayton Air Show officials announced today that an F-16 Fighting Falcon will perform at the Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger, which will be held on July 17th and 18th at the Dayton International Airport. The Air Force confirmed that the Viper East F-16 Demo Team from Shaw AFB, South Carolina will appear at this year’s Air Show in Dayton.
The highly maneuverable F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft that has proven itself in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack. While sleek in size, the F-16 is no lightweight in strength. Being fully loaded with fuel, the Fighting Falcon can withstand 9 G’s (9 times the force of gravity), which exceeds the capability of other current fighter aircraft. Hosted by Goodrich’s Wheels and Brake plant in Troy, Ohio, the F-16 Demonstration in Dayton will be flown by Captain Ryan “Rider” Corrigan, of the Viper East Team. Since September 11, 2001, the F-16 has been a major component of the combat forces committed to the Global War on Terrorism flying thousands of sorties in support operations Noble Eagle (Homeland Defense), Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Iraqi Freedom.
“The F-16 executes an incredible demonstration and we’re thrilled to have it return to the Vectren Dayton Air Show, said Michael Emoff, Chairman of the USATS Board of Trustees, producers of the event. “It’s just one more reason to attend a phenomenal show, and we still have more acts yet to be confirmed,” Emoff added.
Headlining this year’s show are the US Navy Blue Angels who will appear with aerobatic legends Sean D. Tucker and AeroShell Aerobatic Team along with newcomers Pirated Skies Wing-walking, Greg Poe, Team Fastrax skydiving and School Time Jet-Powered School Bus. As mentioned earlier, the Air Show expects to announce more attractions in the coming weeks.
