Thunderbirds will Take Up Some Room By Hans Fogle WEPN
It's either a VIP invitation to a world class air show or a nuisance, either way residents of about 80 homes will need to be off of their property for about an hour during the Thunder Over the Blue Ridge Air Show in September. The Air Show is being held in conjunction with an open house at the West Virginia Air National Guard 167th Air Lift Wing. Commander of the 167th Colonel Roger Nye said during a press conference yesterday that whenever an air show is held a certain area on the ground must be cleared. The U.S. Air Force Thunder Birds, who are headlining the show, will require a six-thousand by 8-thousand foot area. That will impact some properties south of the Eastern West Virginia Regional Air Port, but Nye and other organizers said they will make it up to the displace residents by making them special guests at the highly anticipated show.
