Circa 1913: 6 Cylinder Anzani Radial Engine At The Henry Ford Museum from blog by Martt
I'm constantly amazed at the state of the art of aircraft engine building back 90 to 100 years ago.  It was a lot more advanced at the time than it seems like it should have been.  For example, this cute looking Anzani 6 cylinder radial engine from around 1913.  That's one gorgeous looking little engine!  (if you need another example, check out the Duesenberg V-16 beast from 1919) ...

Lindbergh from Pilots of America Message Board
A friend sent me this...
Dedicated to those of you who may not have been around for Lindbergh's Atlantic crossing in 1927.
A really interesting video on the Lindbergh flight. When you click on the address, episode #3 comes up ready to play.
I suggest instead that you first click on "Contact" to the left and select #1, then watch them in order, #1 through #4. (You have to click on "Contact" after each episode).
What tenacity it took for Lindbergh to overcome the odds against him to accomplish this feat.

Although, I didn't end up choosing that path (and I abandoned that philosophy,) I have a great deal of respect for Naval aviators. They definitely do some tough flying and have a lot of fun at it. ...
