NAA Assists Brazilian Airplane in Claiming Four World Records - January 2011 NAA Record Newsletter
A unique airplane called the CEA 308, designed and built by Professor Paulo Iscold and his students at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil, claimed four world records in early December 2010.
The flights were sanctioned by the Comissão de Aerodesporto Brasileira (CAB), an organization recently admitted as a new member of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale. Gúnar Armin Halboth piloted the airplane from the Regional da Zona da Mata Airport.

In the mid-1980s, I had the privilege of corresponding with one of Don's sons, then-Major Joseph Gentile, USAF (an F-16 Instructor Pilot!), and Joe's mother, Isabella. Both were very nice, helpful, and most cordial. Kind of gave me an insight into what a class guy Don must have been.
One of Joe's possessions is his dad's WWII logbook - what a treasure! Joe was kind enough to photocopy most of it for me. He skipped some months in 1942 and 1943, but the entries for 1944 are complete. I will reproduce these entries for you here, along  ...

Air Force One returning to display from National Museum of the USAF Top Stories
Restoration staff at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force plan to return the Boeing VC-137C SAM 26000, also known as Air Force One when a president is on board, to display on March 6. The aircraft was recently painted back to its original presidential paint scheme.
The Presidential Gallery will not be open for touring on March 6 due to aircraft movement, but the regular schedule will resume on March 7. Visitors are asked to plan their trip accordingly.
SAM 26000 was the first jet made specifically for use by the President of the United States. Built in 1962, it served many presidents over three decades, carrying heads of state, diplomats and other dignitaries and officials on many historic journeys. ...

Casual history buffs will recognize the twin-fin tail and probably recall snapping a few photos of a shiny silver example at an air show. This is part of the attraction of the AAHM and any aviation history museum.

Jeff Dasher, a navigator in the 95th Airlift Squadron who guided the mission for the 440th Airlift Wing's C-130 Hercules that flew a group of Soldier Santas across the morning sky.
One might say he was born for this mission.
"It's the name," Major Dasher chuckled. "I had to be on this flight."
His flight was part of the 12th annual Randy Oler Memorial Operation Toy Drop, a program sponsored by Fort Bragg, N.C., and Pope AFB officials providing toys to needy children in the Fayetteville, N.C. area. The toys, donated by the participating servicemembers, are delivered to children in time for Christmas.
