That Little Yellow Airplane
Remembering Rob Harrison's Tumbling Bear By Eric Van Gilder
Rob Harrison's "Tumbling Bear" has been an iconic aircraft in the airshow world throughout the west. The aircraft was sadly lost in an accident on May 10, 2008 in a crash at the Modesto Airshow. Fortunately, Rob survived, but with major injuries. This book serves as a memory and tribute to "That Little Yellow Airplane" that we have all come to know and love. 40 pages with over 100 photos of "The Tumbling Bear" in action.

And here's an update on Rob from his website: We are all working real hard getting the planes ready as the Docs gave Rob the thumbs up to go back in the air starting Nov. 1! Once again, longtime sponsors are coming forward and supporting Rob to do all possible for him to achieve this goal.

Air Zoo program gives visitors chance learn about laws of motion from airzoo.org by jmaclean
Bikes roll, boats sail, airplanes fly and rockets blast into space… but do you know how they do it? Sir Isaac Newton did! On Saturday, November 29, visitors to the Air Zoo will see for themselves how things move and how these strange ideas called “Newton’s Laws of Motion” are part of everything we do.
During each 30 minute presentation (at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.), the science behind Newton’s Laws of Motion will be revealed. Though geared for children of all ages (and their parents), Super Science Saturdays are targeted specifically toward upper elementary to middle school students.
Super Science Saturdays are held at the Air Zoo once a month and are included in the price of regular admission. For more information, visit our Super Science Saturday page.

War and remembrance from Stars and Stripes
Peering hard at black-and-white photographs of the base in the 1940s, Les Friend was struck by a childhood memory. "I came here as a boy in 1950 for a Christmas party. It was in a hangar," said the 69-year-old native of nearby Thetford. Friend was one of 350 Britons and Americans who came out to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 48th Fighter Wing on Friday night at the officers club.

November 4th 2008 - 90th Anniversary of the end of WWI from David Cenciotti's weblog - the most visited Italian Aviation Blog
Between Nov. 4 and Nov. 9, the most important Italian towns hosted the celebrations for Armed Forces day and the 90th Anniversary of the end of WWI. In particular, Rome Circus Maximus hosted an interesting static display of aircraft, helicopters and ground equipments of the Italian Armed Forces and Air Corps. Giovanni Maduli went there when the exhibition was being arranged and took the following interesting pictures of some of most important attendees. Among them, noteworthy, the Agusta A.106 of the Italian Navy (a light helicopter used for ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) platform for the Impavido-class destroyers of the Marina Militare; an A.206, an A-129 and an NH-90 of the Italian Army; and an MB339 PAN of the 313° Gruppo.
As part of the celebrations, the brand new Italian aircraft carrier Cavour was in Civitavecchia harbour. We visited it on Sunday Nov. 9th. A report on that visit will be published in the next weeks on this website. [photos]
