Air Force Jet Found Off The Coast Of Santa Monica 54 Years After Crash - cbs2.com
The wreckage of an Air Force jet believed lost at sea 54 years ago with two crewmen aboard has been found off the coast of Santa Monica.
G. Pat Macha, an amateur historian who heads a group of volunteer searchers, said Monday that the plane was found earlier this month during a sonar survey for another aircraft near Los Angeles.
Macha says divers matched a serial number on the wreckage to Lockheed-Martin T-33A jet trainer.
He believes the wreckage was a missing Air Force jet that departed Los Angeles International Airport on October 15, 1955.
Macha turned over their information to the sheriff's department and the U.S. Military's Joint Prisoner of War/Missing In Action Command, which would be responsible for identifying the crew members.

Fantasy of Flight to honor passes from now-shuttered Cypress Gardens on Tourism Central Florida - Orlando Sentinel
Fantasy of Flight has announced some good news for Cypress Gardens pass holders.
The aviation attraction said it plans to honor the annual passes issued by Cypress Gardens Adventure Park, which shut down this past week for the second time in less than a year.
Fantasy of Flight said Friday that it will honor the passes until they expire. After that, Cypress Gardens' pass holders can get $15 off the purchase of a new annual pass to Fantasy of Flight, which costs $69.95 for adults and $39.95 for children.
"Times are tough for a lot of businesses and a lot of individuals. We wanted to offer Cypress Gardens' annual pass holders some additional value for the money they've already spent, as well as some entertainment options," said Fantasy of Flight creator and founder Kermit Weeks. "We've got some incredible special events coming up and we invite them to use their annual pass to take part in the fun."
Both attractions are located in Polk County, but focus on very different themes. While Fantasy of Flight is an aviation-themed attraction, Cypress Gardens was best known for its botanical gardens and included a water park.

From Russia with love by Randy Tinseth
I had the opportunity to spend a week in Russia last month, just before and during MAKS 2009, or the Moscow Air Show. This bi-annual show featured a number of what I'd call weird and wonderful aircraft.
It was a weird and wonderful experience for me in a different way, too, as this was my first trip to Russia that was not in the dead of winter! I sure loved seeing green grass in Moscow this time around.
image/photo
The static display at MAKS featured some very unusual (at least to my eyes) airplanes - including the Concorde-like TU144.
