For the record ... - In reply to B-25: 1942 : I did some more reading and the Darby facilities were apparently in the West Bottoms industrial district "south" of the Fairfax plant, where the Kaw River (Kansas River) joins the Missouri River, and not to the west of Fairfax. One of the Fairfax B-25s returned to KC a couple of weeks ago for an airshow at the Downtown Airport, across the river from Fairfax. Team America Rocketry Challenge 2010 registration opens from Rocketry Planet
ARLINGTON, Virginia USA — Registration for the world's largest rocket competition, the Team America Rocketry Challenge, is open to 750 student teams in grades 7-12 from any U.S. school, home school or non-profit youth organization. Registration for the 2010 spring contest is open now through November 30. The annual rocket contest, sponsored by AIA, challenges teams of three to 10 students to design and build a rocket that will climb to 825 feet with a raw egg payload and stay aloft for 40 to 45 seconds. The payload must then return to earth unbroken. The 2010 contest rules and registration information are available at rocketcontest.org.

The California Capital Airshow 2009 features the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds as the headliner with the weekends show including numerous military and civilian performances. Noteworthy bonuses this year are the F-22 Raptor, B-2 Spirit, and a second jet team, the Patriots. The amount of static displays spread across the ramp is enough to keep aviation enthusiasts walking around for the entire day!
