Batajnica 2009 International Air Show from www.airserbia2009.vs.rs
A century ago, following several years of preparation, the Kingdom of Serbia bought two free spherical and one tied kite-balloon for its Army from August Ridinger, a German firm from Augsburg. Upon reception, on April 19 1909, Kosta Miletic, the first trained Serbian airman and aeronaut, who was to become the first commander of the Serbian Air Forces, flew with the Serbian flag on a spherical balloon named Serbia. Another tied balloon had been procured from Russia, so that in 1909 Serbia had four balloons. A gas chamber was ordered from a firm in Berlin Dilman, a field winch from St Petersburg, and a hydrogen unit from a Swiss company Erliken. The afromtion equipment was delivered to Serbia in 1909 and 1910. The balloons were used in the Second Balkan War and the First World War.

Update: Blue Thunder from www.bluethunderairracing.com
This August account will include a few days of September so that we can report that "Blue Thunder II" has begun flight testing. We are recording every second of flight, but most of the information collected is when I am flying around at low power settings just to accumulation flying time.
Blue II flies well but to say that we have not experienced any glitches would have you thinking "this is not a Thunder Mustang. The glitches we have tried to solve were mostly with the instrumentation and landing gear. ...

C-5M to go for world flight records at Dover from Air Force Times - News
It could be a record-breaking day Sunday in the skies over Dover Air Force Base, Del.A C-5M Super Galaxy will attempt to set or break 33 world records in a single flight taking off from the base, a Dover release said. The attempt will include altitude, payload and time-to-climb records. For example, with a payload of 80,000 kilograms — about 177,000 pounds — the C-5M will climb higher than 10,000 meters. If successful, the records will "trickle down" to lighter payloads and lower altitudes.A National Aeronautic Association official will be on board to document the world record attempt. The C-5M is an upgraded version of the venerable C-5. The M-model flies with more powerful engines, enabling the transport, the service's largest jet, to climb faster and fly higher with heavier payloads.Dozens of other improvements and a digital cockpit are predicted to raise the jet's reliability levels.

Cold War Bomber Taxi-Takeoff Incident Prompts Plaudits and Debate from The Experimental Aircraft Association
The flight instructor mantra "The flight isn't over until you are in your car driving home" was in play for the crew of a Handley Page Victor, a 1950s vintage bomber, in May during Cold War Jets day at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome, England. As seen in this Youtube video, the crew was only supposed to taxi the aircraft on the runway closer to the crowd for photos when, according to a report in the Daily Mail, the co-pilot inadvertently firewalled the throttles and the bomber accelerated down the runway.
