SAVE THE SKYRAIDER! from Parrothead Jeff by Parrothead Jeff
I apologize for not posting this the first time I saw it, but thankfully loyal reader and commenter Kath emailed it to me and reminded me about it.
Here's the basics of the story - An American purchased a vintage aircraft from an owner in France. This aircraft is an AD-4N Skyraider. Skyraiders flew in both Korea and Vietnam where they proved to be invaluable due to their long loiter time and ability to get low and bring the hurt to the enemy, especially when it came time to protect downed airmen so that they could be rescued.
This is not something abnormal. Warbirds may be expensive, but the ones owned by civilians are unarmed and as harmless to the general public as a Cessna or any other civil aircraft.
That didn't stop the Department of Homeland security from seizing this aircraft almost immediately after it arrived in the U.S. ...
A Memorial Day Story From WWII from Airline Pilot Central Forums by vagabond
From Seattle Times:
It's hard to say which part of Joe Moser's story is most amazing:
Is it the fact that he bailed out of a flaming fighter plane over France in World War II and survived not only being shot down by Germans, but living 60 days in Buchenwald, a brutal Nazi concentration camp?
Or is it that he was spared from certain death by, of all people, officers of the German Luftwaffe, his sworn enemies? ...

Review: An Aviation Film That's NotJust an Aviation Film from Av8rdan's World of Flying by Dan Pimentel
At it's very core, Monika Petrillo's film Flyabout is aimed squarely at pilots. Come on, what aviator wouldn't want to ride along on a 30-day circumnavigation of Australia in a flight of GA planes, chasing dreams, making lifelong acquaintances, and possibly dodging a few wayward kangaroos?
In this documentary – which premiered at the super-cool SXSW Film Festival in Austin in 2006 – Petrillo is a freshly-minted 25-year-old VFR pilot who embarks on a dream flight of a lifetime around the entire Australian continent. It is a film about a journey any GA pilot would cherish, so let's look at the synopsis from the flyaboutmovie.com site: ...

Here are a few pictures I took just be for Dago left for Chino.
