6th annual Chili Fiesta fly-in set By Tom Norton
If you like chili, grass airstrips or, better yet, both you’ll want to be at the
Massey Aerodrome and Museum on May 9. Massey Aerodrome, which delights in its designation as MD1, is a turf airstrip in the northeastern corner of Maryland’s Eastern Shore where three retired airline pilots and a group of volunteers have built - and continue to expand - a working museum, restoration shop and place where like-minded pilots have fun. There seem to be a lot of those like-minded pilots around. The annual Chili Fest and December Christmas party draw hundreds of celebrants, literally from around the world. Don’t try to win a prize for coming the longest distance. That honor always goes to an Australian businessman who times his U.S. trips to coincide with Massey Aerodrome events. Chili from mild to hot is promised, and participants are welcome to show off their own favorite recipes - which many do, at these events. Expect to see some interesting airplanes, too, at a place where the motto is “Dedicated to education and preservation of grassroots aviation.” For information: www.masseyaero.org or 410-928-5270

You may have heard of a new(ish) internet-based social networking phenomenon called Twitter. People that haven't used it (and many that have) profess to not understand what it's used for, editorial cartoonists and stand-up comics mock it, and millions of people are addicted to it. Wikipedia (I have to assume that you already know what that is or we'll be here all night) yet again fulfills its apparent raison d'etre of using a whole lot of words to deliver absolutely no meaningful definition:...
