Wide Bay Australia International Airshow from www.queenslandairshow.com.au
Welcome to the official website for the Wide Bay Australia International Airshow 2009 - three days of aviation action from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th July, 2009.
Bundaberg Airport, Queensland will be the host of this spectacular three day event! Friday is dedicated to trade. This will included demonstrating the workhorses of aviation doing what they are designed to do: short take off and landings; slow flight; maximum cargo capacity; and training aircraft. On Saturday and Sunday, the skies come alive with the very best of aviation displays, including aerobatics, warbirds, jets, formation flying, ground attack simulations, agricultural flying, heli-mustering and flying novelty acts.

The Blue Angels by wwoodruff
Talk about being disciplined at your job or craft the Blue Angels are the epitome of discipline. As a child and a military brat I lived on base for most of my youth and because of that access I was able to watch the Blue Angels perform for days before the real show. I love to watch them and as a boy it would make you dream of wanting to fly and be a Blue Angel. So as I grew up and moved away from home my love for watching the Blue Angels still survives. ...

Lawmakers noted that required security measures might "...reduce the attractiveness of the event, and the food and lodging businesses in the area will find it hard to replace the lost business." AirVenture is not alone. More than 325 airshows and 10 million spectators would also be impacted. ...

Two classics - a Pietenpol Air Camper and Arthur Ord-Hume! from Shortfinals's Blog by shortfinals
Sometimes the fates allow a most appropriate meeting. In this photograph (taken in the Historic Aircraft Park at GVFWE, Hullavington) we can see not one, but two classics of aviation.
G-BUCO is a Pietenpol Air Camper, an American design which has been around since 1929; Bernard H. Pietenpol (1901-1984) was a self-taught mechanic who, in Minnesota, during the midst of the Great Depression designed a simple, easy to build two seat aircraft (developed from an earlier single-seater) constructed from cheap materials such as Sitka spruce, and powered by a 40hp Model A Ford engine. ...

Puppy Breath from Views From The Left Seat
In keeping with the animal theme from my last post, a recent flight from Tulsa, Oklahoma to DFW provided some interesting passenger comments and a few unique photos.
Before takeoff on every single leg, we are provided with what we call a "closeout". That is simply a record of what we are carrying on that particular flight. It includes total fuel, passengers, cargo weight, trim settings, flap settings, takeoff weight, any restricted articles, and live animals. This "closeout" comes to us via our onboard printer after the crew chief, gate agents, and load agents have closed out the flight after we push off the gate. We cannot takeoff without a closeout. ...
