Forty years ago, the first manned space flight away from Earth, was piloted by the crew of Apollo 8. Once established in lunar orbit, the Command Module was realigned, allowing the crew to see for the first time the sight of 'Earthrise.' The photograph taken by Bill Anders is considered to be one of the most influential images in history. The mission will remembered for one other detail. A live broadcast from orbit around the Moon, as the astronauts read from the Book of Genesis, on Christmas Eve, 1968.
