U.S. NAVY’S BLUE ANGELS TO HEADLINE 2009 INDIANAPOLIS AIR SHOW
Event benefiting children’s charities set for June 5, 6 and 7 next year

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – They’re one of the most sought-after performance teams in the world, and they’re coming to the 2009 Indianapolis Air Show!

The U.S. Navy’s flight demonstration team – known far and wide as the “Blue Angels” – will be headlining next year’s air show at Mt. Comfort Airport, June 5, 6, and 7.

“This is tremendous for us and our community,” said Tom McCord, general manager of the event. “The Blue Angels were last here in 2007, so it has been a while since we’ve experienced their impressive aerobatic maneuvers.

“We’re excited to have this extraordinary military team help us boost our goal of helping children through local charities,” he added.

According to the Navy, the Blue Angels’ mission is to enhance Navy and Marine Corps recruiting efforts and represent the naval service to the United States, its elected leadership and foreign nations.

During a Blue Angels flight demonstration, you can expect choreographed refinements of skills possessed by all naval aviators. That includes the graceful moves of the four-plane Diamond Formation, in concert with the fast-paced, high-performances of its two solo pilots. Finally, the team illustrates the pinnacle of precision flying, performing maneuvers locked as a unit in the renowned, six-jet Delta Formation.

Additional plans for the 13th annual Indianapolis Air Show are beginning to take shape. As always, attendees will have the chance to experience everything from high-flying action in the air to interactive and family-friendly fun on the ground.

Please check the Indianapolis Air Show’s website,
www.IndyAirShow.com, for updates on scheduled performers. You can find information on sponsorship and volunteer opportunities through the site, as well.

Net proceeds from the air show go to the Central Indiana Community Foundation. The Indianapolis Air Show has donated more than $1.3 million through CICF to children’s charities since the show’s inception in 1997.
