RAF Tutor Display Feature Report from UK Airshow Review News and Updates
... It's sometime during the 1970s. The venue is Shobdon Airshow. I am buried in the foot-well of my ex-RAF Grandfather's Ford Escort. He is outside, adoring every second of the spectacle that is unravelling before him. The RAF Lightning is finishing off its display routine with a zoom climb to the stratosphere. For the last five minutes I have been absolutely terrified as this monstrous machine has roared around the skies, ripping up the air with its reheat. Now, some thirty something years later, the airfield at Abingdon is packed with spectators. This time it is me diving towards the crowd line at just over 200mph, about to pull up vertically to commence a display of my own...

Duxford 90th Anniversary Air Show 2008 Review
Duxford airfield came into existence in 1918, as the storm clouds of war were clearing over Europe. Ninety years later, the literal storm clouds threatened to disrupt that same airfield's Anniversary Air Show, in a year that has seen a number of the season's bigger shows interrupted and even cancelled by the weather's extremes

Göteborg Aero Show 2008 Review from UK Airshow Review News and Updates
There was me thinking that 2008 was going to be a year to be spent doing the usual circuit of UK shows, with a lack of interesting European shows to tempt me onto the continent. Then around mid-June an e-mail entitled "Hey! Have you seen this?" arrived in my inbox. Gothenburg airshow...

Project 53 Aims for Sun N Fun Video from Alabama Aviator - Aviation News
GADSDEN AL- Discovered in Gadsden at the Northeast Regional Airport, Project 53 is now standing on its own legs. Last October, International Jets owner Richard Hess introduced a fuselage, painted with the number "53", surrounded by pieces including a wing set and tail. He identified these parts as an Albatros, the well-known L-39 warbird. Hess estimated the restoration project would take about five months. Rough parts and barely recognizable as an aircraft, he appeared to be a real optimist at the time.

NASA Commemorates Historic Apollo 8 Christmas Eve Broadcast from AVwebFlash Current Issue
It was 40 years ago, in December 1968, that the three Apollo 8 astronauts became the first people from our planet to reach Moon orbit, and they brought home the famous photo of the beautiful blue Earth rising above the Moon's horizon, surrounded by dark, vast, empty space. Frank Borman, Jim Lovell and Bill Anders sent back six live television transmissions during their flight, including the famous Christmas Eve Broadcast, when the three astronauts read from the biblical book of Genesis. This broadcast was heard by an estimated one billion people around the world. "Looking back on the Earth was the high point of the mission," Borman said recently, at an EAA event. "It was Christmas Eve, and we were a long way from home." About 239,000 miles away from home. For an excellent five-minute documentary about the event, featuring an interview with Lovell, check out ...
