With 30 world altitude and time-to-climb records under its cowl, Bruce Bohannon’s Flyin’ Tiger is being retired from service. Builder and pilot Bohannon, EAA 169040, first introduced the highly modified RV-4 Exxon Flyin’ Tiger at the 1999 Sun ‘n Fun Fly-In at Lakeland, Florida. Five months earlier Bohannon had donated his other world record-setter, a Miller-Bohannon JM-2 named Pushy Galore, to EAA’s AirVenture Museum. ...[FLiR]

Civil Air Patrol to honor women in military service from RSS Feed: News
A reception honoring 2008 Wreaths Across America participants will be held Dec. 13 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, at Arlington National Cemetery. Vulcan pilot hangs up flying suit from Alert 5 - Military Aviation News
Former RAF Squadron Leader David Thomas, chief pilot of the Vulcan bomber, has retired from flying the iconic aircraft.
Thomas flew Vulcan XH558 to RAF Bruntingthorpe for mothballing and was at the controls when it flew again on Oct. 18 last year.
Ex Squadron Leader Martin Withers will take over his role.

Richard J. Caruana, an established aviation author and illustrator, sent me the following file f-104-layout_low containing an interesting series of F-104 profiles. The profiles were published on MODEL AIRPLANE INTERNATIONAL no. 41, December 2008 issue, within a feature that is dedicated exclusively to operational colour schemes worn by the F-104s serving with the Aeronautica Militare (Italian Air Force, ItAF). The file also contains detailed views of the markings, stencils, roundels and bagdes of the various Italian units that were equipped with the Starfighter.
