Whilst on the way to Wickenby, we called in at Skellingthorpe, to see the memorials there, and see a 'glimpse' of any remains of the old airfield, which has been part of a large, housing development of late. Although, we did not see any remains, we did see both memorials, and speak to some dedicated people, who carry-on, the name of the airfield and it's history, for all to see. Talk about drop lucky, we tried to view the visitor centre outside the village hall, but nobody knew where the 'key' was for it. However, a very nice lady, who has been awarded the MBE for her work, in connection with the memorials and events at Skellingthorpe, gave us a rough idea, as to what they were doing, to keep the 'spirit' of Skellingthorpe 'alive', followed by ...
