New "Small" Air Museum from www.aafo.com
Just wanted you all to know that if you are traveling through St. George, Ut that we have started a small air museum here. It is called Western Sky Aviation Warbird Museum. I know quite a mouth full, but it is starting to be known as Western Sky Warbirds. Keep in mind that it's small and would like to make it grow and get bigger.
The museum has four aircraft in all. A BAC Mk III Jet Provost, Mig 15 uti, Mig 15 bis and a Mig 17 F. The first two are airworthy and the others will be airworthy by the end of the year. Here are some pictures of the aircraft and the museum facility.
We are open right now only on Saturdays from 10 to 5. We can also be open during the week with prior notice.

Although in excess of 25 different versions of the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress had flown since its first flight prior to the start of the Second World War, one of the most unique versions would have to be the only B-17 to be operated by US major airline after the war ended. During the war, many US airlines contributed to the war effort by training pilots, carrying priority passengers and delivering cargo to far-flung destinations well beyond their traditional domestic route networks. Immediately following the Japanese surrender in 1945, the airlines began the process of gearing up for normal civilian operations as rapid demobilization was the order of the day. One of those airlines was TWA, at the time was still known as Transcontinental & Western Airlines but would soon rename itself as Trans World Airlines. ...

What does it take to organize a fly-in at the National Air and Space Museum?  Lots of time and lots of good friends!  As we head into our sixth year of Become a Pilot Day, it’s a great time to look back at how it all started and where we go from here.
As a pilot myself, the idea of a fly-in was a no-brainer.  The Udvar-Hazy Center, immediately adjacent to Washington Dulles International Airport and with lots of outdoor space to tie down aircraft, was perfectly situated to host such an event.  After some convincing of my boss and the Museum’s leadership, and the generous support of a donor ready to support the event, I was ready to coordinate the first ever fly-in at the Smithsonian. ...
