... I also made sure I was in the right place to snap the Red Arrows as they landed and lined up before their display. This was the first one in.
What else did I snap? The Blades aerobatics team, the Typhoon, a Spitfire, an ME109 (replica, I'm told), the airbus A380 and the Dreamilner 787, a drone helicopter, some of the other drivers plus the big, fierce black guy on traffic duty at the bottom of the hill most of the time; and a few late on Friday of the departing crowds. ...

Aviation Trivia of the Day by JP Santiago
Conventional wisdom in aviation history points to the tragic debacle at Desert One in Iran during the hostage rescue mission as the watershed moment that culminated in the formation of the US Special Forces Command (SOCOM). His name is legendary amongst US special forces personnel to this day, but I'd bet hardly any of us enthusiasts had ever heard of his name- Mike Grimm.
Long before he would make his mark on the history of US special forces, Mike Grimm was already a decorated hero of the Vietnam War when as a second lieutenant in 1968, assumed command of his platoon and managed to fight off through the night two entire companies of Vietcong before they ...

Airspeed Video Episode - Spins with Barry from Airspeed
It's time for another video episode!
I wanted to go up with Barry to do some acro to condition for the T-38 ride that happened on the 13th. Unfortunately, the Super D is no longer on the line at Oakland Flight Academy for financial reasons, which leaves only the Citabria. And the Citabria, not having a constant-speed prop, is limited to spins as far as acro goes. (And, even if we flew it fully acro, we'd be limited to positive-G maneuvers anyway.)
