‘Wings Over Wine Country 2009’ Air Show

Santa Rosa, Calif., May 30, 2009 – Come join the PACIFIC COAST AIR MUSEUM (PCAM) for a weekend of outstanding flying and fun in beautiful Northern California wine country at the annual “Wings Over Wine Country” Air Show, to be held August 15-16, 2009 at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, Calif. This year’s show will feature military jet demonstrations, precision aerobatic flying, vintage warbirds, static aircraft displays, aviation memorabilia and more. Among this year’s featured acts are a WWII P-38 “Lightning” on static display and flying, aerobatic pilots Gene Soucy and Greg Poe, wingwalker Theresa Stokes, towed glider pilot Dan Buchanan, Team Rocket and famed Air Show announcer Rob Reider, as well as a flyby by the U-2 “Dragon Lady” spy plane.

The Air Force will provide exhibitions of the A-10 Thunderbolt II and the C-17 Globemaster III. The USAF West Coast A-10 Demonstration Team will demonstrate the A-10. The C-17 will be making its fourth appearance thanks to the C-17 Demonstration Team from the 452nd Air Mobility Wing from March Air Reserve Base. The Air Force is also scheduled to provide flybys with the USAF U-2 and T-38 aircraft as well.

An extensive world class aerobatic line-up includes Gene Soucy flying his Showcat, wing walker Theresa Stokes, Greg Poe in his MX-2, Dan Buchanan with a lively routine in his NorthWing Hang Glider, Team Rocket from Canada and more.

A special part of the “Wings Over Wine Country” air show each year is the presence of a dozen or more vintage warbirds that take flight. From P-51, to T-6s, a P-38, P-40, Yaks and more, these aircraft provide nostalgic high speed passes and participate in a “Heritage Flights” with USAF aircraft and “Legacy Flights” with Navy aircraft to honor those who served in the United States Armed Forces.

Gates open both days at 9:00 a.m. for pre-show activities, including radio controlled model aircraft demonstrations. The main Air Show events kick off at 11:00 a.m. Discount advance tickets can be purchased at the Museum and Sonoma County Round Table Pizza locations. Tickets may be purchased at the regular price at http://www.pacificcoastairmuseum.org/. Convenience charges may apply.
