Gala Ball kick starts Airshow!

Ball gowns and bow ties will be the flavor of the evening at the Wide Bay Australia International Airshow Charity Gala Ball on Saturday night (27th June) in the Civic Centre. The gala event will be hosted by comedian Mark Mc Conville who will navigate the guests through a night of fantastic food, dancing and hilarious comedy. The evening will also feature a incredible auction of music and sporting memorabilia.

All proceeds from the evening go directly to the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland. The Charity Winners of the Wide Bay Australia International Airshow Challenge will also be announced on the evening.

The entrants will be meeting with a panel of judges at the Civic Centre, Bundaberg at 5.30pm on Friday (26th June) to answer questions on their knowledge of the Leukaemia Foundation; the Wide Bay Australia International Airshow; Wide Bay Tourism Attractions; their individual sponsors and their ability to present well with their peers, sponsors and be an ambassador for the Leukaemia Foundation and the Airshow.

The Gala Ball held on Saturday night will kick start the Airshow activities when the skies over Bundaberg will be rocking with activity when the largest general aviation Airshow in Australia is held over the weekend of 3-5 July 2009. Many of the thousands attracted to the show, including interstate and international visitors, will be visiting our region for the very first time and the flow on effect will have numerous benefits for the adjacent centres throughout the Wide Bay and North Burnett Regions.

Vintage fighter aircraft will be soaring in mock battles above the airfield, providing those keen lensmen the opportunity to take some memorable photographs. RAAF Hercules and Caribou plus the famous Hawker Hunter will be just some of the aircraft at the show providing eye popping thrills for all.

From joy flights in fighter aircraft to hot air balloons and careers in aviation, these are just some of the experiences visitors may anticipate.
