Enthusiasts at the Wide Bay International Air Show this weekend will have the chance to get up close and personal to some exciting displays from Air Force and Army.
On static display will be a C-130H Hercules transport from Number 37 Squadron, based at RAAF Richmond near Sydney. Also on display will be the light tactical airlifter, the venerable DHC-4 Caribou, due to be retired from service at the end of this year.
Two Army Kiowa Light Observation helicopters will also be on static display. Completing the activity on the ground will be a light infantry display by members of the 9th Battalion, Royal Queensland Regiment (9RQR), and a careers promotion display from Defence Force Recruiting.
Overhead, at 11.50am on both Saturday and Sunday, a breath-taking solo Roulette aerobatics display will showcase some of the skills required to be a pilot in today’s Defence Force.
The Roulette pilots are all highly experienced Qualified Flying Instructors (QFI), based at RAAF East Sale in Victoria.
