California Capital Airshow Announces Performer and Aircraft Line Up Just in Time for Father’s Day

The ultimate family adventure returns to Sacramento this September along with fan favorite, the USAF F-22 Raptor Jet Demonstration Team

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- (June 12, 2014) -- The ninth annual California Capital Airshow (CCA), presented by Sacramento County, today announced its headlining act, the United States Air Force (USAF) Air Combat Command F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team as well as its roster of awe-inspiring performers, aircraft and interactive exhibits for the 2014 Show scheduled September 6-7, at Mather Airport.  Just in time for Father’s Day, tickets are on sale now and can easily be purchased at the airshow website - http://www.californiacapitalairshow.com/purchase-tickets/.

The USAF F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team will return to the skies of Sacramento headlining the Airshow this September. Even when sitting at idle on the ground, the F-22 Raptor is intimidating, and once on the move, it simply defies the laws of physics. Unmatched by any known or projected aircraft, the world’s only operational, stealth fighter was designed to guarantee U.S. air dominance for the next 40 years. The F-22 Raptor is a beast that simply cannot be tamed.

“You won’t believe your skies! No matter what aircraft is screaming through the skies over Mather Airport, it is always thrilling, but more importantly, it’s an experience. Arguably, one of the greatest breakthroughs in aircraft technology, the unique Harrier Jump Jet is capable of vertical takeoffs and landings, providing the U.S. Marine Corps with mobility, flexibility and firepower. The Patriots Jet Demonstration Team returns with their signature high-flying action. Characterized by fast paced formation flying, six-ship diamond formation aerobatic maneuvers, and computerized red, white and blue smoke system, the Patriots will rock the skies of Sacramento.

Fans will be holding on to their seats because Sacramento is in store for a wild ride with new and returning performers. In addition, the Show will showcase 'Stars & Stripes Forever’ a salute to veterans and the greatest generation. Attendees will step back in time with an authentic theatrical production featuring live USO-style music, costumes and pyrotechnics. 2014 is the 70th anniversary of D-Day and the colorful tribute will be a fitting way to honor one of the most important events of the 20th century while showing gratitude to the men and women who have and continue to serve and sacrifice in order to provide the freedoms we all enjoy today.

Los Angeles County Air Show Announces Exciting Performer and Aircraft Line Up

LOS ANGELES -- The United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angles, will rock the skies of LA County headlining the Los Angeles County Air Show this March 21st and 22nd at William J. Fox Airport. Air Show fans at the inaugural event will be captivated by an array of exciting and thrilling jets, gravity-defying aerobatic performers and the rumble of historic aircraft.

“The Blue Angels performance is precision flying at its best, but the show certainly doesn’t stop there,” said Dennis Dunbar, executive director of the Los Angeles County Air Show.  “No matter what aircraft is screaming through the skies over Fox Field, it is always thrilling, but more importantly, it’s an experience – you get to see the aircraft, explore the planes both inside and out, and personally talk to the actual pilot or crew member of the airplane that literally just took your breath away. You won’t want to miss the inaugural Show.”

In addition to the Blue Angels, the Air Show will showcase thrilling jets, world-renowned aerobatic performers, warbirds, and vintage aircraft that will inspire both young and old to dream big.  Performers include (but not limited to):

•    Special performance by the Lockheed C-130 support aircraft, affectionately known as ‘Fat Albert’
•    Heritage Flight – P-51 Mustang and F-86 Sabre Jet

Calling all volunteers!  The Airshow is looking for Antelope Valley’s finest volunteers to join the team for a weekend of hard work and a lot of fun.  The first volunteer meeting is set for January 14, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Lancaster High School in the theatre (44701 – 32nd Street West, Lancaster, CA  93536).  Volunteers will learn about what it takes to get involved, available opportunities, meet Airshow team managers, ask questions and get the inside scoop.  In order to volunteer, one must be at least 18 years old and available for a minimum of 8 – 10 hours both Friday and Saturday, March 21-22, 2014.  For additional information and/or to apply for a volunteer position please visit: http://lacountyairshow.com/volunteer-application-friday-saturday/. NASA Tests Boeing Supersonic Design from AVwebFlash Current Issue | A number of technologies are in the works to solve the problem of sonic booms and resurrect commercial supersonic flight, and recently NASA tested one potential design from Boeing. Two models were tested in the supersonic wind tunnel at NASA's Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. The model in the photo is the larger of the two, and it's shown upside-down. The model contains a force measurement balance used to measure forces on the model such as lift and drag. The smaller model was used to measure the off-body pressures that create a sonic boom. NASA has been funding research by Boeing and Lockheed Martin to develop designs for a small supersonic airliner that would carry between 30 and 80 passengers and potentially enter service in the 2025 timeframe.

California Capital Airshow announces exciting 2012 performer and aircraft line up

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – (June 13, 2012) – The United States Air Force Thunderbirds Jet Demonstration Team will rock the skies of Sacramento headlining the California Capital Airshow (CCA) this September 8^th and 9^th at Mather Airport.  Fans will be captivated by an array of equally exciting, thrill-seeking military jets, gravity-defying aerobatic performers and the rumble of historic aircraft that will make children of all ages scream with excitement.

“This year’s Airshow will have you on your feet begging for more!  The Thunderbirds performance is precision flying at its best, but the show certainly doesn’t stop there,” said Darcy Brewer, executive director of the California Capital Airshow.  “No matter what aircraft is screaming through the skies over Mather Airport, it is always thrilling, but more importantly, it’s something you actually get to experience – you get to see the aircraft, explore the planes both inside and out, and personally talk to the actual pilot or crew member of the airplane that literally just took your breath away.”

In addition to the Thunderbirds, CCA will showcase thrilling jets, world-renowned aerobatic performers, and warbirds and vintage aircraft that will mesmerize and inspire both young and old to dream big.  Performers include (but not limited to):
