Flying Adventure Film To Debut At EAA AirVenture from AVwebFlash Current Issue
Small airplanes are great transportation machines for getting from airport to airport, but they also provide a means to get to places and have off-airport adventures that couldn't be achieved any other way. A new film to debut at Oshkosh tracks the adventures of a pilot and two rock-climbers who seek out three of Southern Africa's most isolated rock faces, traveling via trike and a fixed-wing Cheetah microlight. The 19-day trip was a challenging one, with dangers presented by not only the difficult climbs, but also the mountainside flying, bad weather, uncertain landing areas, and eccentric bureaucrats. The film, titled "No Need for Parking -- An African Rock Adventure," featurespilot Mike Blyth and climbers Marianne Schwankhart and James Pitman.

EAA Radio: Some static, Some 60HZ hum, but always entertaining from EAA Radio - Home
EAA Radio didn’t have a large audience when it began in 1996, in fact it had an audience of one. The first time the modern version of EAA Radio went on the air it was just the On-Air host talking to himself…literally. Like many of the areas of AirVenture, EAA Radio began because the wire twisters at the EAA Communications Center want to see if they could create a radio station. Left out of the equation was any thought about programming, but by golly there was a technical challenge and the Green Gang was going to meet it. There had been a radio station many years in the past but the elders of the Comm Center say it was very limited in scope and never attempted to grow beyond extending the reach of the public address system. Needless to say the wires were crossed and re-crossed, equipment was modified, descriptive language was used to encourage each other along and halfway through AirVenture 1996 EAA Radio was born.
