FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Variety Spices Up ‘Wings Over Wine Country 2008’ Air Show

Santa Rosa, Calif., July 1, 2008 – Come join the PACIFIC COAST AIR MUSEUM (PCAM) in welcoming back the P-38 Lightning WWII fighter aircraft to Santa Rosa at the annual “Wings Over Wine Country” Air Show, to be held August 16-17, 2008 at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, Calif. In the 1940’s the Sonoma County Airport was an army air field used to train P-38 pilots to fly and fight in the Pacific Theater. Wings Over Wine Country 2008 will feature a beautifully restored airworthy P-38 and many other WWII warbirds in flight during the show. The P-38 will be available for up close inspection and photo opportunities at a special event Thursday, August 14. Call the Pacific Coast Air Museum for details.

The Air Force and Navy will provide exhibitions of the C-17 Globemaster III and the F/A-18 Super Hornet jet aircraft. The C-17 will be making its third appearance thanks to the C-17 Demonstration Team from the 452nd Air Mobility Wing from March Air Force Base. Navy Strike Fighter Squadron 122 Flying Eagles (VFA-122) based at NAS Lemoore, Calif. will demonstrate the capabilities of the F/A-18F Super Hornet. The Air Force is scheduled to provide flybys by USAF U-2 and T-38 aircraft as well.

An extensive world class aerobatic line-up includes Paul Lopez flying his MX-2, Jacquie Warda in her patriotic Pitts S-1T, Kent Pietsch with a lively routine in his 1942 Interstate Cadet and more.

Adding to the variety of acts in this year’s show are the Wine Country Flyers radio control model aircraft club, Sonoma Country Sheriff’s helicopter demonstration with the SWAT team, CDF aerial firefighting demonstration, airport fire truck demonstration, Smoke-N-Thunder jet car and the Misty Blues all woman parachute team.

Gates open both days at 9:00 a.m. for pre-show activities, including radio controlled model aircraft demonstrations. The main Air Show events kick off at 11:00 a.m. Discount advance tickets can be purchased at the Museum and Sonoma County Round Table Pizza locations. Advance tickets may be purchased at a discount price at www.pacificcoastairmuseum.org. Convenience charges may apply.
