Dayton, Ohio – The Vectren Dayton Air Shoe Presented by Kroger has added another military workhorse to this year’s show lineup. The massive C-130 Hercules will perform a demonstration both days of the show. The show takes flight July 19th and 20th at the Dayton International Airport with the amazing USAF F-22 Raptor headlining this year’s show.

The 179th Airlift Wing (AW) of the Ohio Air National Guard based at Mansfield Lahm Airport will provide the demo of the mighty C-130 Hercules at this year’s show. The 2008 Vectren Dayton Air Show will have the good fortune to have two military transports in the air as the show will also feature a demonstration from the colossal USAF C-17 Globemaster III.

Built by Lockheed, the Hercules is the main tactical airlifter for military forces from more than 50 nations worldwide. Capable of takeoffs and landings from unprepared runways, the C-130 was originally designed as a troop, medical evacuation, and cargo transport aircraft. The versatile airframe has found uses in a variety of other roles, including as a gunship, and for airborne assault, search and rescue, scientific research support, weather reconnaissance, aerial refueling and aerial firefighting. The Hercules family has the longest continuous production run of any military aircraft in history. During more than 50 years of service the C-130 has participated in military, civilian and humanitarian aid operations.

The C-130 joins an impressive lineup of military demonstrations at this year’s show including the USN F-18 Super Hornet, USAF F-16 Fighting Falcon, US Army Apache Demo Team, and the USAF C-17 Globemaster III. Of course the highlight of this year’s show will be the first-ever Dayton full demonstration of the F-22 Raptor.

“We’re very excited to add the C-130 demo to our already packed lineup,” said Michael Emoff, Chairman of the USATS Board of Trustees, producers of the event. “Fans always enjoy seeing the ‘big heavies’ get up and do their routine.”

General admission tickets for this year’s show remain at $19 for adults, and $16 for seniors (ages 60 and up) and youth (ages 6-11). Children ages five and under can enter free of – charge. Fans can also obtain a $3 discount per General Admission ticket by using their Kroger card when purchasing tickets at Kroger stores. Tickets are also available on the show’s Web site at
