The Swoose comes home to roost at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force from National Museum of the USAF Top Stories by nationalmuseum.usaf@wpafb.af.mil (Sarah Parke)
The Swoose, the oldest surviving B-17 Flying Fortress and the only "D" model still in existence, has been transferred from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Shipment of this unique aircraft from Washington, D.C., is in progress and it is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. "The early years of World War II were a time of both tragedy and heroism," said museum director Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Charles D. Metcalf. "With The Swoose, the only surviving U.S. aircraft from the beginning of the war in the Pacific on Dec. 7, 1941, the Air Force's national museum will receive a B-17 that is a veteran of the very first day of the war in the Philippines while assigned to the 19th Bomb Group in the Philippine Islands. This is a great story in our history."

Outstanding Warbirds collection (photos)
I was sent this link by a friend of mine whom used to be my EAA line boss when I worked the Stuart Airshow. The crew I worked with specialized in line support for the EAA Warbirds, at Stuart we also did crowd clearance for taxiing Galaxies, Hornets, Black Hawks, pretty much - you name it. We pretty much specialized on the, Warbirds which was fun, because the oldtimers knew the quirks of all the different aircraft. We worked 'active' public flightlines where there was a lot of 'civilian' acti

Lincoln, CA Airshow from Airwarriors by huggyu2
Lincoln Airport (KLHM, just northeat of Sacramento) is having their 2nd annual airshow, 4 Oct (Saturday). It's only their second one, and is building upon last year. Julie Clark, Bill Stein, Tim Decker,...and even Eddie Andreini... will be the main acts. Pretty good acts for a small show. It's got 6000' of runway. If any of you want to come up here for whatever reason (family in the area, just 'cause, etc...), drop me a p.m. It's not a big budget airshow, but if you want to come, I'll pass your name to the organizers, and I'll try to get you in. I know you Helicopter bubbas don't need no stinkin' 6000', so drop me a line!
