Hello to all of our friends ~ we hope that this message finds things going well with you. All is fine on this end. It has been a bit of time since I sent the last up-date message so here is what is going on.
We have a lot of REALLY VERY EXCITING NEWS !! Progress on the WACO CG-4A glider is coming along very well: we are moving forward with the near completion of the CG-4A cockpit nose and fabric covering; we now have a new 25’ sign for our hangar; we are preparing for the first Foundation Raffle for the 1962 Buick Special Convertible; we are preparing for our demonstrations of the glider at local airports in the Los Angeles and surrounding areas ~~~ just lots and lots of fun, interesting and exciting happenings.
We have a couple of new areas of interest on the www.esharethis.com web site for the WW II Glider Corps program. You will be able to see lots of activity and, especially, the news about the ’62 Buick Special Convertible raffle fundraising and up-dates on our glider progress.
Fundraising: As you know, any program such as ours depends on a great deal of public support – financially, volunteer work and encouragement. As a public charitable Foundation we exist only thru the generosity and support that we receive from each of you, your families and friends. We want to thank all of those who have been sending in donations to us. All of that money is going directly to the programs as set forth in our charter / Articles of Incorporation.
We are now announcing our First Fundraising Raffle which will benefit the organization. The net proceeds of the raffle will go directly to the benefit of The WW II Allied Glider Corps Commemorative Foundation. We will use those funds at this time to assist in the rebuild of the WACO CG-4A glider. There are no ‘administrative salaries / compensation’ being taken at this time from any of the monies raised / donated. Please see this beautiful Buick convertible at 1962 Buick Special Convertible Slide Show.
You can also learn more about the raffle at 1962 Buick Special Raffle Information. One special note that is not on the Information sheet: If you want a receipt for your donation of $50. and to get confirmation of your ticket number you MUST either (1) send a self-addressed stamped envelope with your return address on it and / or send us your e-mail address with the e-mail information clearly written so that we can confirm your donation and, hopefully, winning ticket number !!
We expect that because this car is so beautiful and the number of available tickets is very limited that we will receive the necessary 300 donations to the Foundation very soon. Don’t be late in helping to support our great cause – send your donation soon. Even if you don’t need / want another car at this time, you may still want to participate by donating, receiving a ticket and, if you are the winner, donating the car to the foundation for a subsequent raffle.
Our address is: WW II Allied Glider Corps Commemorative Foundation, (you can use any shortening of that for your donation check), 24611 Spadra Lane, Mission Viejo, CA 92691. Phone: 949 472 9612. If you have questions, please go to 1962 Buick Raffle - FAQ's to see if your question(s) have been addressed. If not, please send us an e-mail message and we will respond.
Cockpit Moving Toward Completion: We are receiving lots of wonderful volunteer from a number of people. Dick Smith is and has been in charge of the cockpit rebuild process. What GREAT PROGRESS. We have a slide show presentation at Glider Cockpit Nose Fabric Cover where you can see what we have been doing. Dick Smith, Doug Calkins, Jack Kastien, Tim Adams and others are giving lots of their time and effort to make all of this come together. A HUGE ‘Thank You’ to all who are helping to make this flyable WACO CG-4A Glider a reality.
We will now be installing the windows and side panels with plexi-glass. As we progress along with the ‘see-through’ parts, we will also be installing the pulleys, handles, levers, instruments, pedals, etc., etc. to make the cockpit complete. All of this is a huge amount of fun and satisfaction for those involved. We would welcome and encourage everyone to visit us at our hangar at Fla-bob Airport to see our progress and helping to make this historic aircraft come back to life.
Hangar Up-grades: As you are aware, we have many corporate sponsors which are assisting with donations. Jon Goldenbaum, President of Poly Fiber has obtained a new hangar banner that can be seen by all who visit Fla-bob. What a really significant addition to our facility. I have attached a picture of our hangar with its new banner for your enjoyment. Thank you very much, Jon – and Poly Fiber.
That is all for this message as I want to get it out soon. We have lots more to tell you. In addition to the new sub-categories at the WW II Glider Corps category at www.esharethis.com there are many new items for your enjoyment with more being added daily.
As you are aware, we are explicitly non-partisan during this election cycle and will post most everything that is forwarded to us (www.esharethis.com / forward@esharethis.com ) unless it violates our senses regarding race, gender, religion. We fully support the contributions of all of our service personnel – past and present – (especially the men of the WW II Glider Corps) and are grateful for their service and sacrifices that allow us to live the lives that we are able to enjoy.
We appreciate all of your support and look forward to hearing from you soon.

DreamFlight WACO Glider Update 16-July,2008
Hello to all of our friends ~ we hope that this message finds things going well for you. All is fine here. This will be a short message but has some really exciting news about our progress on the flyable WACO CG-4A glider and eShareThis.com. Enjoy.
We are now moved into our new ‘digs’ – a beautiful hangar at Fla-bob Airport which has been provided by Consolidated Aircraft Coatings – Poly-Fiber. Consolidated’s President Jon Goldenbaum arranged for the ‘heavy’ equipment and manpower necessary to make our move as comfortable as possible. No problems were encountered and all parts / pieces were moved over the last weekend. You can view the new hangar on our sharing web site at New Hangar at Fla-bob. With this new location we will be even more accessible for those who want to visit our project and who want to assist with the rebuild of the CG-4A glider.
The next important news is the progress being made on the cockpit nose ‘chin’ section by DreamFlight member Dick Smith. I am working with a new ‘avenue’ for presenting multiple pictures thru SnapFish. You can view the progress of this important part of the rebuild at Nose 'chin' Rebuild Progress 7-16-08 2 .
As I mentioned in my last up-date, we are receiving tremendous support for our project. We need your involvement as best you can to help make this one-of-a-kind FLYING WACO CG-4A glider come together. We are accepting donations of cash, airplanes or ?? thru our 501(c)(3) foundation THE WW II ALLIED GLIDER CORPS COMMEMORATIVE FOUNDATION that will assist us in bringing the story of the Glider Corps and this flying CG-4A glider to the public. Please send your contributions to: WW II Allied Glider Corps Program, 24611 Spadra Lane, Mission Viejo, CA 92691. You will receive a letter specifying your contribution for your tax records.
If you want to donate / contribute specific items (airplane, memorabilia, etc.) please contact me at dreamflight@sprynet.com or call me anytime (California, PDT) at 949 472 9612. We appreciate all of your support.
One last item: be sure to visit our web site at www.esharethis.com to see what is being shared among friends, family and associates from around the world. You will find the ‘latest’ in many fascinating categories. One especially great item can be seen at I am Without Words ... I only wish that I had the courage that this father / son have shown. As always, there are many, many more items of interest that can be found at www.esharethis.com for your enjoyment. Please remember to send us your forwards so that we can share them with others from around the world.
Again, thanks for all of your support and encouragement for our WW II Glider Corps Program. We simply cannot give enough thanks to ALL of our service men and women who have given so much which allows us to live in our great country. We hope that by this project we can ‘give back’ just a little. Please forward this message to you friends that will enjoy the WW II Glider Program and www.esharethis.com .

EAA Radio: Some static, Some 60HZ hum, but always entertaining from EAA Radio - Home
EAA Radio didn’t have a large audience when it began in 1996, in fact it had an audience of one. The first time the modern version of EAA Radio went on the air it was just the On-Air host talking to himself…literally. Like many of the areas of AirVenture, EAA Radio began because the wire twisters at the EAA Communications Center want to see if they could create a radio station. Left out of the equation was any thought about programming, but by golly there was a technical challenge and the Green Gang was going to meet it. There had been a radio station many years in the past but the elders of the Comm Center say it was very limited in scope and never attempted to grow beyond extending the reach of the public address system. Needless to say the wires were crossed and re-crossed, equipment was modified, descriptive language was used to encourage each other along and halfway through AirVenture 1996 EAA Radio was born.

DreamFlight WACO Glider Update 9-July, 2008
Hello to all of our friends ~ we hope that this message finds things going well for you this summer. All is really great here. Since our last up-date there has been a tremendous amount of activity with our WW II Allied Glider Corps Program – all positive. Here is a quick up-date.
First, be sure to visit our web site at http://www.esharethis.com/ and follow along with all of the important forwards that are being shared by friends from around the world. We try to post pictures of our progress under the category WW II Glider Corps as often as possible. There are lots and lots of other very interesting items that you will enjoy – to many to go thru at this time – in the many different categories. Enjoy.
Now for our progress report:
Trip to England / Normandy – June 6, 2008: Betty, I and DreamFlight member Doug Calkins traveled to England and Normandy where we participated in the commemorative events – parachute drop re-enactments at three different locations where the American Paratroops landed during D-Day. While in England we visited with DreamFlight member Rod Brown and his crew from Denham Airfield – David and Stewart.
Our flights to and from England in our friend Paddy Green’s spectacular C-47 ‘Drag-em-oot’ – a C-47 that actually participated in the 1944 D-Day assaults – were great. The weather was good to us – CAVU both directions – and the plane flew flawlessly due to the outstanding engineering by DreamFlight member Mark Edwards of Edwards Worldwide Aviation. Keeping things in proper order (making sure that we navigated thru the English / French countryside appropriately) was DC-3 rated English Captain and good friend Bill Tollett.
That was all fine and good but the best part of the venture was meeting a dear person – Francine Noyon of Ste. Mere-Eglise. Francine was our hostess while in France and introduced us to the Mayor of Ste. Mere-Eglise, Marc LEFEVRE, Vice-president du Conseil General, President de la Communaute de Communes, Maire de SAINTE MERE EGLISE. Our meeting with Mayor LEFEVRE could not have been more enjoyable. We were greeted with a wonderful welcome and made to feel like we were truly a part of their community. The Mayor’s dinner on Saturday night was simply incredible. Our meeting with Mayor Lefevre confirmed that we will be welcome to bring the WACO CG-4A glider to a landing zone near Ste. Mere-Eglise next year for the 65th Anniversary of D-Day.
While there we also met many of our U.S.A.F friends who come to Ste. Mere-Eglise each year to join in the commemorative events.
Back in S. CAL mid-June and then off to the 4th of July celebrations at Crescent City: Upon our return in mid-June, we were privileged to have DreamFlight member and expert aircraft mechanic Dick Smith come down from Olympia, Washington to work on the glider. You will recall that Dick is preparing the nose chin section for installation. You can see the magnificent work he is doing – close to completion – at Nose Chin before Plywood on eShareThis.com.
We are also very, very happy to report that the rear section of the main cabin in now attached. As you read this report, even more has been completed on this section as we near the completion of the main cabin section structure. Please go to Rear Main Cabin to see this progress.
All of this on top of a most important contribution offer from the National Soaring Museum, Elmira, NY. The NSM has most graciously offered to us the several parts of their CG-4A that they are not using for our flyable glider. With this donation, we will now have the horizontal stabilizers, an elevator, dorsal fin and other significant parts which will help us to make our completion date. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, National Soaring Museum and all of its members.
If that was not all there is still MORE Great News !! Thru the generosity of Consolidated Aircraft Coatings / Poly-Fiber we will now be moving into our new hangar facility at Fla-bob Airport. I don’t have any pictures to show you at this time but will for the next up-date.
As everyone is aware, this program is truly a ‘community effort’ and could not possibly be done by any one individual or probably not even a single organization. We are truly grateful for the efforts by all who are putting in their time, money and support to make it happen.
We need your assistance now. This weekend – Friday, Saturday and Sunday we will be moving from our present location to the new hangar. For those in the S. CAL area, we could sure use your help. Even if you have felt a bit ‘out of place’ because you are not an aircraft rebuilder or mechanic, you can really help us a lot this weekend by coming out to help us move. Please e-mail or call me at 949 472 9612 anytime to let me know that you will be there to help. Fla-bob Airport is located at 4130 Mennes Ave., Riverside, CA 92509. A Google or MapQuest direction request will get you the best directions from your location.
As you are aware, we now have our California State filing of the IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization The WW II Allied Glider Corps Commemorative Foundation and are taking contributions of any nature – cash, airplanes, property, etc. – which we will use to the benefit of the Foundation. Please find a way to help support this really truly great organization to benefit the community as set forth in our By-laws and send us your donations to: WW II Allied Corps Commemorative Foundation, 24611 Spadra Lane, Mission Viejo, CA 92691. You will receive an immediate acknowledgement of your contribution for your tax records. If you have any questions about the Foundation or any of our program matters, you can always e-mail or call me anytime at 949 472 9612.
That’s all for now. We appreciate your being a part of our ‘family’ and hope that you are getting as great a thrill out of this project as we are. We look forward to your participation in any way that you can as we move forward.

DreamFlight WACO Glider Update 2-June
Hello to all of our friends ~ we hope that this message finds things going well with you.
In the past week we have been very busy with working on many aspects of our great CG-4A glider and flying the beautiful C-47 operated by the Fla-bob Aviation Associates. We are moving forward with acquiring more parts for the glider, working on the cockpit, nose chin, main cabin and other areas. This project is coming along certainly not at ‘warp speed’ but well within our projected time frame.
As we move forward – literally day by day – we get many new, interesting and great ideas. We make progress with all of our objectives and complete many as we move forward. You can always visit our web site at www.esharethis.com to see not only interesting items about the WW II Glider Corps Program but also many other fascinating forwards that are being shared by friends from around the world.
We have some really Great News to share regarding the Glider Program and the rebuild status of the WACO CG-4A glider.
Thru the efforts of attorney Kevin McKenzie we are now waiting for the California Secretary of State to return our conformed papers of our 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization. The organization is known as THE WW II ALLIED GLIDER CORPS COMMEMORATIVE FOUNDATION – Sounds Great, is Great and will provide the community with an avenue to not only learn more about the WW II Glider Corps but also to give our youth an understanding of a courageous and heroic group of men. You can see our Articles of Incorporation at Charitable Organization . As you can see, we will be involving our youth in not only the historic educational aspect of this period of history but also in the rebuild, presentation and demonstration of the WACO CG-4A Glider.
There is always more to enjoy regarding the rebuild process (really great pictures), some of the youth who are coming out to volunteer in the rebuild process AND ALSO something that has not been seen for MANY, MANY years !! Go to Exciting Rebuild Pictures to see just a smidgen of what excitement lies ahead for everyone directly involved with our project and the millions of people who will share in this excitement.
We owe a special thanks to the WACO Historical Society, Troy, OH for their particular contribution for this aspect of the project. We also owe a special thanks to Bud Bell for his contribution (for today’s pictures and for when we go on tour !!) of the beautifully restored WW II Infantry Jeep. This particular item will be available to our program and for use in our ‘landings’ at air shows and events.
You can also see what is involved with the restoration to airworthy status of various parts and pieces by clicking on Nose 'chin' thru 6-1-08 where you will see the nose chin parts and pieces that Dick Smith is working to restore. The ‘plastic wrap’ package was delivered to Dick by our friends at Wilson Construction Company, Canby, OR a couple of weeks ago. As un-wrapped it looks a bit of a mess. The completed product is guaranteed to amaze you as to its craftsmanship and utility. Keep watch on this particular process.
Betty and I, along with DreamFlight member Doug Calkins will leave early tomorrow a.m. to travel to England where we and DreamFlight member Bill Tollett will fly our good friend Paddy Green’s C-47 aircraft at the D-Day commemorative events at Normandy. While in the U.K. and France we will meet with many friends and officials to move forward with the preparations and approvals for our appearance at the 65th D-Day Anniversary commemorative events in 2009. We will be sure to take pictures of those who are involved with our program, the proposed landing zone in Normandy and other interesting items. We will post them at www.esharethis.com while there or upon our return.
If you should need to contact us for any reason, please send an e-mail message or call 949 472 9612 and leave a message if no one is here to take your call.
Thanks to all of you for your interest in this very exciting program. We appreciate your support, encouragement and, of course, all the parts and pieces of our great glider. We will be back in touch soon.

DreamFlight Update 22-May, 2008
Hello to all ~ we hope this message finds things going well with you. All is fine here. As we progress with our WW II WACO CG-4A glider rebuild we are reminded that every project of this type is a massive undertaking and requires the support of many people in many different ways. We recognize and appreciate the many offers of support from individuals, groups, museums, companies – just everyone interested in seeing a WACO CG-4A actually grace the skies once again. Sometimes we fail to recognize everyone who contributes each week but be assured that we do appreciate all of your efforts.
This past week has brought us closer to getting the cockpit in order to start ‘hanging’ controls, instruments and cables. Dick Smith has received the nose section and is working hard to get that completed for installation soon. We have painted the frame with chromate primer and started a very basic mock-up which you can see at Cockpit 'Green' and Mock-up. Although we always have lots of work, we also have lots of fun in seeing this magnificent machine start to come together.
We continue to receive parts and pieces from our contributors – all friends. Also, we have just had a great new sponsor – Aircraft Spruce an Specialty Co. of Corona, CA and Peachtree City, GA. Thanks to Aircraft Spruce for all of your assistance.
We are now starting our major FUNDING REQUEST for financial contributions. As with any project of this magnitude and unless the person who dreamed it up has substantial monies to fund it, there must be help from a broad sector of those interested in seeing its success. We now invite everyone to share with us and others around the country, in England, France and Holland where our WACO CG-4A will be flown to help with our funding.
There are several ways that you can contribute: as an Individual, we have a Charitable Organization – 501(c)(3) that you can contribute to and, if appropriate, obtain a tax deduction; if a Business, we can arrange a very attractive marketing program where your information will be seen by thousands, if not millions of people thru the many areas of publicity that we are involved with – web site links, print and television media, announcements, air shows, events, etc.
All of those who contribute will be recognized thru our program. Please go to WW II Glider Corps Contributor Sponsorship Levels to see what level of financial sponsorship works best for you. We welcome all suggestions and will work with everyone in regard to their particular situation. Please remember our goal is to fund this very interesting, exciting, once-in-a-lifetime program – the only flying WACO CG-4A glider in the world – that will recognize and honor the men and women of the WW II Glider Corps. We need and welcome your help.
Please contact us and indicate where you would like to make your contribution: our 501(c)(3) charitable donation or participation in our advertising program.
As we send this message we want to remind you that you can find more information on the WW II Glider Program at our web site www.esharethis.com under the category WW II Glider Corps. There is a special request by one of our friends in Holland who is looking for information on a fallen U.S. serviceman in that country. Please visit Verl E. Miller, KIA 24 September 1944 to see if you have anything that can help with this request.
In that regard, one of the most beautiful, poignant things that I have ever witnessed are the American Cemeteries at Normandy. If you have never been there or don’t believe that you may be able to go, we will have some pictures to share with you soon. We always wondered how many of these final resting places of our fallen soldiers have fresh flowers placed on them and now we know at least for some of them. A huge THANK YOU to all who take the time to remember our fallen service personnel.
On another note please remember that you can find interesting and informative new items on www.esharethis.com . One especially helpful item can be found at Gasoline Prices. This shared item will let you simply type in your zip code and find the price of gasoline in your immediate vicinity. It works but does not have all the local station prices. At least it is good for a reference and probably will save you some money when you use it before you ‘fill-up’ again. And one last thing about our web site at www.esharethis.com ~~ although we direct a lot of our comments to the WW II Glider Corps category and items under Aviation, there is a whole ‘World’ of interesting items being shared by people from around the world. There is something for everyone to enjoy – from young to older.
Please tell your friends about our WW II Glider Corps Program, forward our news letter to them and, always, send your forwards of ANY subject to us to include at our eShareThis.com web site for others to enjoy. We welcome your suggestions and ALWAYS welcome you at our Fla-bob Airport hangar to help with the restoration of the WACO CG-4A glider

DreamFlight - WW II Glider Program Up-Date
Hello to all of our Friends ~ we have some really Great News !! to report with this up-date. We are now ‘under roof’ as we have moved into our new temporary hangar at Fla-bob due to the courtesy of Jon Goldenbaum at Consolidated Aircraft Coatings / Poly-Fiber. During the past week or so we have been very busy sorting out all of our parts and pieces. Many people have come out to help get the actual rebuild of the glider started. Sorting, making parts lists of those that we have and those parts that we need, inspecting the parts on hand to determine condition, building jigs, trundles, etc., etc. are all part of the process in getting this beautiful glider back to flying condition. In the last couple of days we have completed the welding repairs to the cockpit nose section. You can see a bit of the work that was done by Dick Smith and David Paul at Cockpit Welding on the eShareThis.com web site. There are also many new items to review on that site if you haven’t visited there for a few days. We have established a new area at www.esharethis.com under category WW II Glider Corps, sub-category Rebuild Process. We will be posting lots of pictures of our actual rebuilding of this glider at that location. You will enjoy seeing those pictures and the people who are working hard to make this project come together. Also, as we get them loaded, we will show you pictures of other works in process and completed static displays of
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Best … John
