Naval Aviation Museum - Webcam of new construction by TheKathrynReport
AXIS 211 Network Camera
Hangar Bay 1, the name given to the forward section of the hangar bay on aircraft carriers, is an appropriate name for the newest addition to the National Naval Aviation Museum. Scheduled for opening in late-2010, this 55,000 square foot structure will house many of the airplanes now accessible by a limited number of people through the museum's flight line trolley tours. The PB2Y-5R Coronado, first Navy plane to land in Tokyo Bay following the Japanese surrender in 1945, and Navy 1, the S-3B Viking in which President George W. Bush landed on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) in 2003, are just two of the aircraft planned for display in Hangar Bay 1. The building will also include an area where visitors can observe aircraft restoration projects being performed by museum staff and volunteers.
Malcolm Douglas…the enigmatic! from AeroHub
The prototype FU-24 was shipped to NZ and underwent a flight-test programme here (with an open cockpit, would you believe!). It was duly issued with a NZ Certificate of Airworthiness but was not certified under FAA part 23 standards until much later. The early models suffered from a slow roll rate at lower airspeed and very poor rudder authority at climb and approach speeds. However, over time, its grossly under-powered state was rectified, the ailerons were improved and, after 55 years of service, the FU-24 is still the mainstay of our aerial topdressing fleet. It was frequently said that the FU-24 had ...

No Tiger, How About a Zeppelin? from Things with Wings
It's been raining heavily in California for more than a week, but Airship Ventures says the outlook for the flight of the Zeppelin Eureka to San Diego on Wednesday looks good.
That's when Eureka leaves its home base at Moffett Field in Silicon Valley for a two-day journey to Brown Field, its staging point for aerial coverage on behalf of CBS crews filming the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines on Jan. 28-31. Brown is about 25 mi. south of Torrey Pines. Farmers also is sponsoring Eureka's flight.
The 246-ft. long Eureka's normal work is providing tourist flights over San Francisco Bay and the nearby wine region. However, it has made tourist trips to Los Angeles before. But it's not gone as far south as San Diego. The flight is being sponsored by Farmers Insurance. ...
