He is the author of A Genesis Workshop: Five Generations of Engineering Enterprise from the Birthplace of Aviation, published by the Aeronautical Systems Center History Office. Dr. Brown will discuss the "Year of the Future" concerning how the U.S. went from a position of inferiority in the World War I years to one of superiority during the twenties and thirties. Most of this advance was due to the work at McCook and Wright Fields. The event is free and open to the public.

In September 2006, he was flight director for STA-115, the Space Shuttle Atlantis mission to deliver and install the 35,000 pound truss extension to the International Space Station. In April 2007, he gave a presentation to the EAA in Dallas on the Space Shuttle and how it flies. His favorite topic is flying the shuttle from an aviation perspective.
