Open Cockpit Day Saturday January 9 11am-3pm Who isn't fascinated with sitting in the cockpit of a modern airliner or a jet? The Hiller Aviation Museum is unique in regularly providing access for visitors to real aircraft cockpits like an A4 jet trainer, a Hiller H-12 helicopter and our Boeing 747 airliner. On this special day, January 9, we swing open additional cockpits including the Boeing 737 airliner, the Boeing SST (Super Sonic Transport), a Cessna 177 Cardinal and our new L-39 Czechoslovakian Fighter Jet. From general aviation piston aircraft to commercial airliners, you will get a real "hands-on" experience and unique perspective on flying from real pilots and airline captains. Registration is open for the Hiller Aviation Museum's annual Aviation Camp programs for kids entering Grades 1-6 in Fall 2010. Each weeklong camp meets from 9 AM to 4 PM (9 AM to 12 PM Half Day), with extended camp hours available. Each camp features exciting aviation encounters, hands-on projects and flight simulation experiences. Three different topics are available, including: Air and Space: Journey into the world of spaceflight, featuring the construction and launch of an all-new model rocket! Extreme Flight: Explore the fastest, highest and farthest frontiers of aviation with cutting-edge experiments and flight simulations! Pilot Academy: Discover the world of the aviator, exploring real aircraft, flight simulations and model aircraft construction! After-School Aviators Afternoon Programs For Kids Grades 1-8 New Programs Begin January 2010! Launch a new four-week after-school adventure for young aviation enthusiasts! After-school programs meet one day per week for four consecutive weeks at the Hiller Aviation Museum. Each provides an in-depth investigation into a particular area of aviation. Space Explorers (Grades 1-5) Tuesdays 3:30 PM to 4:50 PM January 12th - February 2nd Investigate our solar system and the challenges of spaceflight! Air Racers (Grades 4-8) Thursdays 3:30 PM to 4:50 PM January 14th - February 4th Chase the clock in an exciting series of air racing simulations!
