THAT DAY OF INFAMY
(The 48-star flag of 1941)
As the years go by, December 7th, 1941, gets further and further removed from the cares and concerns of the present. We at ICAS pledge that we will never forget that fateful morning and that we will always hold in highest honor the brave soldiers, sailors and airmen who gave their last full measure of devotion on a quiet Hawaiian Sunday 68 years ago.

GOING GREEN
ICAS is taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint. And so we are converting our daily convention newsletter, ICAS Today, from a printed version delivered to each member's hotel room into an electronic edition transmitted digitally.

Mark Sanborn to Deliver Opening Keynote Address This Morning
Sponsored by Jim Peitz Aerosports
Mark Sanborn, a best-selling author and noted authority on leadership and customer service, will set the tone for this year's convention when he delivers the opening keynote address this morning at 8:30 a.m. in the Concorde Ballroom.
Sanborn will talk about what he calls "The Fred Factor," a leadership presentation that will reveal the secrets of extraordinary individuals who have learned how to reinvent themselves … and their work … to create added value for customers and colleagues … and without spending more money to do it.
Release of the 2010 Jet Team Schedules
Planning for the 2010 air show season will shift into high gear this morning when the performance schedules for the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Navy Blue Angels and Canadian Forces Snowbirds are released following the opening keynote presentation by Mark Sanborn.
Traditionally, the release of the jet team schedules has increased activity on the exhibit hall floor and allowed for a more productive and efficient ICAS Convention.
ICAS Today plans to publish the jet team schedules in tomorrow's edition.
Exhibit Hall Opens Today
Exhibit Hall sponsored by Chuck Vincent's Eagle Air
The exhibit hall at this year's ICAS Convention features 223 exhibitors in 338 booths on over 60,000 square feet of exhibit space. It will be the center of activity for this year's ICAS Convention.
Starting at 10:15 a.m. this morning, the products and services of our exhibitors will take center stage as ICAS offers the first of four exhibit sessions. The 2009 ICAS Convention includes a second exhibit session this afternoon from 4:15 to 6:00 p.m. and then one session each on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Great Idea! Sessions Add New Dimension to ICAS Convention
Education Program Sponsored by AirSupport, LLC
For years, ICAS Convention delegates have been virtually unanimous that the strongest convention education sessions are those that allow ICAS members to share ideas, perspective and "war stories" with one another.
For the second consecutive year, ICAS has integrated this concept into the education schedule with our Great Idea! Group Participation Sessions. At nine different times during the education portion of our convention program on … Sunday, Monday and Tuesday … we have scheduled sessions in which there will be no structured program. Each session's facilitator will lead a discussion in which you and your colleagues will direct the conversation and provide the content.
Consult the detailed education descriptions for more information on the Great Idea! Group Participation Sessions.
Banquet Provides Opportunity to Celebrate … and Recognize Industry Professionals
Chairman's Banquet Sponsored by ASB.tv
All week long you will be asked questions like "Are you going to the prom?" Or "Who are you sitting with on Oscar night?" What they're really talking about, of course, is the annual ICAS Chairman's Banquet, a unique opportunity for the air show community to gather in one room and celebrate the successful end of one air show season, kick off the new 2010 air show season, and recognize some of the top achievers in our business.
On Wednesday evening, December 9th, ICAS Convention delegates will put on their "glad rags" and gather in the Concorde Ballroom at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel. The ICAS Foundation will recognize the 2009 induction class for the Air Show Hall of Fame: Charlie "The Flying Farmer" Kulp; EAA Chairman and President Tom Poberezny; and the late Bobby Younkin. We will also announce the 2009 recipients of the prestigious Dick Schram Community Relations Award, the Art Scholl Showmanship Award, and the ICAS Sword of Excellence. We will all share a few laughs, drink a little wine, have a bite to eat, and have a last bit of fun before heading back to our individual corners of the world to continue our planning for the 2010 air show season.
ICAS Accepting Seat Reservations for Chairman's Banquet;
New Reservation System for Marketing Awards Luncheon
Because our reservation system worked so well for the Chairman's Banquet in 2008, this year ICAS will use a seat reservation system for the Marketing Awards Luncheon as well. Members wishing to reserve seats for either the luncheon or the banquet may do so at the reservation table outside the Loire room of the Paris Convention Center during Exhibit Hall Open hours on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Although reservations are not mandatory, they are highly recommended.
Additional Tickets for Social Events
Additional tickets for social events and meal functions … for spouses and other guests …may be purchased at the Registration Desk. Additional tickets for the Tuesday afternoon Marketing Awards Luncheon are $25 per person. Tickets for the Wednesday night Chairman's Banquet are $50 per person. Social event tickets may only be purchased by registered convention delegates for their spouses and/or guests.
Internet Café Available for Delegate Convenience
Sponsored by Stallion 51 and The Gathering Foundation
Thanks to the generosity of Stallion 51 and The Gathering Foundation, ICAS is once again pleased to offer a multi-station Internet Café to provide 2009 ICAS Convention delegates with convenient, high-speed access to the internet. Located in the busiest area of the convention center, this bank of five laptop computers, plus a laser printer, will allow delegates to check e-mail, print documents, and conduct virtual business with their "home office." Delegates will have access to the Internet Café during working hours throughout the convention.
Exhibit Floor Solicitation Policy
Selling privileges on the ICAS Convention exhibit hall floor are limited to individuals and organizations that have contracted and paid for space assignments. No other persons or organizations are permitted to sell products or services, solicit contributions, distribute advertising materials, or demonstrate products on the exhibit hall floor. Non-exhibiting personnel observed selling on the exhibit hall floor will be asked to stop such activities. If these non-exhibiting personnel refuse to stop, they will be asked to leave the hall.
ICAS Needs Your Show Dates
Much of the ICAS Convention involves the gradual development of the upcoming air show season schedule. For this part of the program to work, we need your involvement. Whether you're a performer or an event organizer, we want to hear from you … and we need to hear from you. Fill out the form in your Convention Program/Proceedings book and turn it in to the Registation Desk located at the north end of the convention area of the hotel. We will take the information you submit and update the schedule periodically throughout the convention.
Tuxedo Information
The Chairman's Banquet in the Concorde Ballroom on Wednesday evening is a black-tie-optional event. If you do not have a tuxedo and would like to rent one, ICAS has made arrangements with Tuxedo Junction, a local formal wear company. You can call them at 702-873-8830, or 800-832-5717, to arrange a rental. Once you have ordered a tuxedo from Tuxedo Junction, you can pick it up at the ICAS Member Services Desk after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. BE CERTAIN TO SPECIFY TO TUXEDO JUNCTION THAT YOU ARETENDING THE ICAS CONVENTION AT THE PARIS HOTEL. Rental ware may be dropped off at the Bell Desk in The Paris.
Convention Sponsors Add Value, Defray Convention Expenses
The organizations providing sponsorship support to this year's ICAS Convention provide assistance to the event in many different ways.
First, they improve and expand the convention in ways that would not have been possible without their support.
Second, they help us "hold the line" on price increases and keep the ICAS Convention as affordable as possible so as many members as possible may participate. Due in large part to the generosity of our sponsors, the inflation-adjusted cost of convention registration and convention booth rental at the ICAS Convention has actually decreased over the last fifteen years.
Thirdly, as leaders within the air show community, their support helps strengthen ICAS and our very important annual convention.
If you get the chance, we hope that you'll stop by and offer your thanks to these sponsors for their commitment to and support of your organization.
