1,000 Fans on Facebook! As of Sunday, our fan base on the popular social media/networking site, Facebook, has grown to over 1,000 fans, making the American Barnstormer team just the second civilian air show team to reach this benchmark*. The use of social networking sites like Facebook was the big buzz at the annual ICAS Convention just a couple weeks ago, with seminar leaders urging air show organizers and performers to take advantage of this public outlet to draw more people into becoming air show fans. We've witnessed this evolution through our fan page as we've interacted with both long-time air show fans, as well as numerous new fans to the air show world. *Note on research: We searched for as many airshow teams and performers as possible on Facebook, using search terms such as "airshow", "aerobatics", and "wingwalking", among others, and took into account not only pages, but groups and individual profiles representing teams, as well. To the best of our knowledge, the only other civilian team which has surpassed 1,000 fans is Sean D. Tucker (at just over 1,500 fans), and we believe Mike Goulian Airshows will be next with a current fan count of just over 800. We apologize if we missed anyone in our research efforts. |
