Homestead Air Reserve Base air show is making return in November - Pinecrest / Bays - MiamiHerald.com
Have you missed the rocket's red glare and the furious sound of military might in Homestead?
The personnel of the 482nd Fighter Wing haven't had an opportunity to showcase their base with an open house or air show since it was blasted by Hurricane Andrew in 1992.
That's about to change...

Blue Angels: Bombs Over Bellevue - The Andy Aupperlee Explosion 5000
The Blue Angels made their annual visit to Seattle last weekend as apart of the Seafair festivities. Even though this is my fourth summer in the Emerald City, I've never actually made it down to Lake Washington to watch their show. While working at Boeing Field last year, I saw the squad come in and take their customary parking space at the south end of the runway. Blue Angel fans camped out along the airfield waiting...

Video Episode - JATO Ride in Fat Albert from Airspeed
I was fortunate enough to get one of the last Jet-Assisted Take-Off ("JATO") rides in the Blue Angels' Marine-flown C-130, Fat Albert. The JATO bottles are getting more and more scarce and it's unlikely that there will be many more rides like this. ...

A Pilot's Story from Fly Me Friendly by Falcon124
The latest trailer for A Pilot's Story is up on their site. All three trailers are there, so you should go over and check them out. The third trailer was first shown as part of the nightly entertainment at Oshkosh 2009 and it's wonderful.
I've been following the development of A Pilot's Story through a discussions, interviews and plugs on a number of aviation podcasts. Will Hawkins of the Pilot's Flight Podlog podcast and Rico Sharqawi have teamed up to form Wilco Films, an independent film company that, amongst other projects, is producing A Pilot's Story. ...
Oshkosh 2K9 from Patty Wagstaff
The theme of Oshkosh for me this year was "old friends." I can't remember appreciating the comfort of being with so many friends of longstanding as much as I have recently. I guess the other theme of Oshkosh was "rumours were flying!" The state of the aviation biz is so shifting and upset by the recession these days that everyone was talking about the changes. Who will survive and who won't. The aviation biz has always been survival of the fittest, but things are moving at a quicker pace than ever before. EAA is changing too ...

A&S Interview: Brig. Gen. Iftach Spector - Air & Space Magazine
Brigadier General Iftach Spector is an Israel Air Force (IAF) ace with 12 kills to his credit, and an award-winning author of novels and memoirs. Until recently, though he had effectively retired from active duty, he continued to instruct flight students for the IAF. His latest book, Loud and Clear (Zenith, 2009), is both a memoir and a discussion of his views of how the Israel Defense Force, especially the Israel Air Force, fights wars. Aviation historian and author Peter B. Mersky interviewed Spector last May. Mersky's Israeli Fighter Aces (Specialty Press, 1997) was the first book-length history of this unique group of combat aviator ...
