Lynda Meeks is not ... - Aero News TV - Videos
Lynda Meeks is not one who takes a challenge lightly; after her college Army ROTC instructor informed her that Army Aviation was the toughest branch to get in, she embarked on a seven-year mission with the armed forces. At the time, only 4% of military pilots were women; yet, Meeks became an accomplished pilot, first as a UH-1 "Huey" Helicopter pilot and then as a C-12 fixed wing pilot.
Through her years, however, she felt as though she continuously had to prove herself because of her gender. As her Army commitment drew to a close, a chance encounter with a young girl on a commercial flight changed Meeks' life path. The little girl, sitting next to her mother, asked curiously, "Mom, how come you never hear any girl pilots?"

World's Largest Aircraft Breaks World's Airlifting Record [Airplanes] via Gizmodo
This is the Antonov An-225, the world's largest operational aircraft, going to beat the world's airlifting record. After a complete overhaul, it just carried a colossal 190-ton, 53-foot long generator from Frankfurt to Armenia.
The Antonov An-225—call the Mriya, Dream—was built to freight the Buran, Soviet Union's failed response to the American space shuttle. It's 276-foot long, with a 290-foot wingspan, and a door measuring 14.4 x 21 feet. I was inside the Antonov AN-124 and I was blown away by its gargantuan proportions. I can't imagine how huge this one really is, up close and personal. [Flight Global]
