2009 Cleveland National Air Show

The Cleveland Nation Air Show 2009

E-6B Makes Cleveland Debut

The Navy's E-6B Mercury will be on the ground in Cleveland for the first time. Part of the Take Charge and Move Out (TACAMO) mission, the aircraft provides the communication link between the President of the United States and Secretary of Defense to the nuclear deterrent system of submarines, bombers and missile silos.

Harrier in the Air and on the Ground

For the first time since 1995, the U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier will hover in the air above the runway at Burke Lakefront Airport. AND an AV-8B Harrier will be on display so Air Show fans can get close to this miraculous aircraft that can perform 90-degree climbing turns and vertical takeoffs and landings. Cleveland’s only one of 14 sites to have the 2009 Harrier demo.

Afterburners On – Strike Eagle

The approaching rumble signals the F-15E Strike Eagle is about to be show center at Burke Lakefront Airport. The dual-role fighter jet can perform both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions at low altitudes, day or night, in all kinds of weather.

Afterburners On (the Ground) –
Shockwave Jet Truck

One of the most popular acts, the crowds come running to the fence when they hear the roar of Shockwave’s triple-engine jet truck that brings a combined 370 mph horsepower. Feel the heat as Shockwave races down the runway (and maybe even a plane above.)

Air and Land Military Tribute

The U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt and F-15E Strike Eagle will fly with a P-51 Mustang "Excalibur" to honor the past and present in the Heritage Flight. The U.S. Air Force program proudly displays the evolution of the U.S. Air Force airpower from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and today’s modern fighters.

Not to be outdone, a U.S. Army Sherman tank will take to the runway and pass before the crowds to recognize the men and women who serve on the ground to protect and defend our country.
