TOKYO - A Japanese F-15 fighter jet has crashed off the coast of southern Japan, but officials say the pilot ejected and was rescued by a helicopter. Defense Ministry officials say the F-15J fighter crashed in the Japan Sea near the island of Kyushu, which is in southern Japan. The pilot was not visibly injured and had returned to base. The cause of the crash, which occurred late Tuesday, was not immediately known. The ministry says the fighter was conducting a routine training flight and had engine trouble before it went down.
