Putnam County Airport Appreciation Days will be held September 10 and 11, 2011.

A full weekend of family fun is planned for the Greencastle and Putnam County community.  The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter #1374 flying over 175 children for their Young Eagle flight for which they will receive a certificate and a flight logbook.  Over Saturday and Sunday there will also be various displays on hand: aircraft, public safety, civil air patrol, aircraft formation flyovers.  Dixie Chopper Air will be available for airplane rides offering the citizens of Putnam County a breathtaking view of their community from above.  Helicopter rides will also be available.

The event is not restricted to aviation themed activities only.  The airport will host 100 Boy Scouts who will earn aviation as well as other merit badges.  Also scheduled is an antique and vintage automobile cruise-in on Saturday afternoon and evening and a motorcycle cruise-in on Sunday afternoon.  Various wood working craftsmen will be displaying their skills and wares.  Bounce house style games and activities are planned for the kids to enjoy.  A National Guard climbing wall will be on hand and a bike ride is also planned.

If the airport is able to raise sufficient support it will present a barnstormer style flying demonstration.  The airport's second USO style radio show using the community's excellent local talent will take place on Saturday evening .  The show is in honor of those who have and who are currently serving in the armed forces.  Over the last seven years Putnam County Airport Appreciation Days has grown from the gathering of aviation minded people to a community event with a family experience for all ages.
