National Aviation Heritage Invitational is pleased to welcome Christina Olds,
daughter of General Robin Olds and Dominic and Joseph Gentile, sons of famed
World War II ace, Dominic ‘Don’ Gentile to take part in honoring our rich
aviation heritage at the National Championship Air Races, September 14-18,
2011.
All three will be on hand at the National Aviation Heritage
Static Display to sign “Gathering of Mustangs’ - the Tom Tullis, print first
produced in 2007 honoring the heroics of many who valiantly fought flying the
legendary P-51 Mustang.
The prints are for sale at the National Aviation Heritage
Static Display area for $20.00
Dominic Salvatore Gentile (1920-1951) was enshrined in the
National Aviation Hall of Fame in 1995. He was the first to break Eddie Rickenbacker’s
World War I record of 26 downed aircraft. His P-51 Mustang – Shangri-La is depicted
on the Gathering of Mustangs print.
Robin Olds (1922-2007) was enshrined in the National
Aviation Hall of Fame in 2001. Among his many accomplishments he achieved ace
status as a fighter pilot during World War II by shooting down 13 enemy aircraft
in 107 combat mission and destroyed 11 ½ aircraft on the ground; scored four
more aerial victories in Vietnam. Old’s Mustang, Scat VI is depicted on the
Gathering of Mustang’s print.
The Gentile brothers are scheduled to be at the Heritage
Static Display on September 15 and 16 while Ms. Olds is scheduled to attend on
September 17 and 18.
Come meet them and walk among over 30 beautifully restored
aircraft - east end of the grandstands at the National Championship Air Races.
