Taylor man lives the high life - Taylor Daily Press
When Hurricane Katrina hit, Taylor resident Mike Thompson was able to help victims in a unique way. Thompson was able to use his home built airplane to make daily deliveries of food and supplies for a week after the hurricane hit.
“I asked for a week of vacation time and my boss said you don’t need to use vacation time, just do what you need to do,” Thompson said. He ultimately delivered five loads of supplies to areas that were cut off from other sources of assistance.
When Thompson talks about flying and why he enjoys it, he quotes Leonardo Da Vinci: “Once you’ve flown, you will walk the earth with your face turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return.”
“(If) you talk to just about any pilot, you will recognize that attitude and feeling that pilots have for flying,” Thompson said. ...
