The CAF immediately announced a tour with Platinum country recording artist Aaron Tippin with their first appearance to be at the Colorado Sport International Air Show on Sunday, August 28 at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport.
So you know what happened next. A distributor malfunction in one of her engines resulted in pre-ignition, damaging some of the cylinders so the Denver appearance was cancelled. ...

Battle of Britain 70th Aniversary airshow Duxford 4-9-2010 from Gary Watson's Posts
Attendance, so high at this show today, that at 13.40pm they closed the gates, due to safety grounds and they were full. Did not take much video, due to no platform with me, which would have helped, as there were just too many 'heads' in the way. PlanesTV were there, so the video produced by them should be wonderful.
There were many great performances, but the 'biggy' was the 16 Spitfires in formation. Here are some of the images taken today. ...

German Phantoms (and Italian Typhoons) in Decimomannu by David Cenciotti
A few weeks ago, in a previous post I reported about the last GAF F-4s detachment in Decimomannu airbase, Italy. Between Aug. 31 and Sept. 2, the photoreporter Giovanni Maduli went again
in Sardinia, to take some pictures of both the JG71 Phantoms and ItAF Eurofighter Typhoon deployed over there to undertake air-to-air training activities. ...

Wing Cam footage of Jim's Botched Hammerhead from AcroCamp
More slaving over a hot Mac this evening. But eminently worth it. I think I'm about 80% of the way through cataloging the aerial footage.
I found the wing camera version of Jim's botched hammerhead. About the same level of drama as the cockpit camera, but a different angle. ...

A Taste of The Fun Part from AcroCamp
Okay, I couldn't resist. I put a couple of angles of a flight up in side-by-side frames and loosely synced them by hitting the start buttons at the appropriate times. Then I watched for a few minutes.
Suddenly, instead of gritty, disjointed, insider-only raw material, it looks like something that might soon actually be cinematic. It's pretty. The sun wanders over the fuselage. Your eye gets drawn from angle to angle as the aircraft banks rolls or pitches. Oh, man, am I getting excited. ...

The Thunderbirds Rock, But I Think They Need Some New Paint! from Airpigz
I've been a fan of both the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels  since I was a kid... how are you not a fan of intensely disciplined jet aerobatic teams that make huge noise, fly insanely close together, and represent the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy? I've also been very fortunate to have seen both teams within the last year, and in the process, I've come to one simple conclusion: the Thunderbirds need some new paint.
As I mentioned in last week's Thunderbirds CoolPix post, when I saw team perform at Sun-n-Fun this year, the  ...

The jet-powered Mustang from The Unwanted Blog
Between North American Aviations famous P-51 Mustang and their famous F-86 Sabrejet was their less well known FJ-1 Fury.
The FJ-1 took to the air in 1946 as a rather tubby, barrel-shaped jet plane with straight wings. But it began its life in October 1944 as a concept, illustrated below via painting and model photo, as a somewhat sleeker jet plane… one clearly derived from the P-51. The cockpit canopy, wings and tail surfaces all seem to be minimally modified from the P-51, with a fuselage that still shows hints of P-51-ness. ...
