Dreams of freedom: The essence and beauty of America from Air Force Link Top Stories
Independence Day celebrates the birthday of the United States of America and the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by our Founding Fathers. It's a day of picnics and patriotic parades, a night of concerts and fireworks and a reason to fly the American flag. This week, as we celebrate the country's 233rd Fourth of July, most of us will be enjoying festivities alongside friends and family.
I'd like to honor all those who cannot be home to celebrate this important holiday due to our combat operations overseas. They are there in harm's way, not just to protect our nation, but to protect an idea, a philosophy, a way of life called America.

RAF Waddington, UK Airshow arrivals. Blog/report 3-6-09 from Gary Watson's Posts - Stick and Rudder
Really bad weather on the Friday arrivals day saw these aircraft at RAF Waddington from 08.00hrs to 13.00hrs before calling it a day. A visit to the south dispersal was made on the way out for some 'through the fence' shots. A German F4 was a surprise to see, as I thought they were retired by now in GAF service. Loads of AWACS were littered around the airfield and two marks of Nimrod and a R2 parked up on the south dispersal. The Polish Air Force aerobatic team had a brief run-out till the clouds came lower, but at least they got up.
